The email with the U of M ID number went into spam for a lot of folks. If it isn’t in your spam folder or regular folder, it has been automatically deleted. You will have to call or chat with the admissions office.
@geekgurl they look to see where you fit in the school, and how happy/productive you will be as a student. don’t be surprised. your stats are decent but that’s obviously not all they look at, or even the tipping point factor in many cases.

Deferred LSA

Got into BC but not Michigan…
When is the admissions office open? I don’t have an email containing the UMich id number
My OOS son with almost identical stats was also deferred. He also attended a competitive summer program at Michigan and every OOS person in his program that he has heard from was deferred. Every in state participant he has heard from except one was accepted. I hope your analysis is correct! Michigan remains a top choice.

Michigan is my dream school so I am definitely going to be attending next year! Good luck to everyone who got deferred. This whole process is a crapshoot.
@mack1313 How do I join the groupme?
THIS is exactly why high-stat people get deferred. UMich wants to increase its yield. If you don’t know what admissions yield is, google.
Yale has the best financial aid in the country. What are the chances this applicant will choose UMich over Yale?
@brantly sooooo can I comfort myself thinking that they thought I’d get in elsewhere so didn’t bother accepting me?
Per the forum rules:
I saw in the main thread that admissions emailed alumni parents saying they didn’t get to every application in EA, and that they deferred many people because they just didn’t have time to read it. Does anyone have the text from this email or a screenshot or something?

Were you denied?? Or deferred?
@proudartmom an update for you: I have been accepted!
@mreed1
You got into Vandy ED, you have to withdraw from the other schools.
@geekgurl, nobody can tell you why you were deferred. You are international, correct? Would Michigan have been affordable? I do not believe they give aid to international students. https://finaid.umich.edu/international-students/
@emorynavy yes, but once the ed offer is accepted is an appropriate time to notify all other colleges. Most ED offers have a short period of time to accept. People that don’t accept an ED offer are few as one applies ED with an intent to enroll. UofM accepts plenty of students knowing many will not attend for one reason or another to hit their target enrollees by May. There are probably kids accepted today that won’t enroll if they are declined at Ross. There are plenty of kids accepted today that probably won’t enroll because it costs too much when they get their final financial aid notices this spring. There is 5 more months of admission season.
DS also got deferred
