University of Michigan EA Deferred 2020

I know a lot of us were hoping to get into uMich only to be disappointed with our deferrals. This is a thread for us to wallow in our sorrows together/share advice on how to proceed/ etc!

Screw wallowing around. Let’s weaponize this thread. The college we decide to attend is the threshold of fate for most of us. We should coordinate and streamline effective means of increasing acceptance. Christmas Break is here. That’s two weeks of school-free uninhibited free time. I for one will not look back at this crucial time with remorse.

All in all, sulking shouldn’t be considered an option when that time and energy can be focused on much greater endeavors.
Just my 2 cents.

S got deferred. Will send email of interest. Anyone knows if mid year report is sent through common app? Thanks! Let’s hope we hear great news soon!

S was deferred as well (I"m seeing you everywhere, @sunbeams–our Ss have applied to a bunch of the same schools!). I heard (through S who is not necessarily a reliable source) that our school routinely sends midyear reports to all schools, which I assume means it’s uploaded and will go through CA to all schools, even those that have already made a decision, but I’m not sure…

@Trump2016 I knew it was true! Trump and all his supporters are ignorant f**ks!!

apparently there were multiple deferral emails. there was a “good” one, “okay” one, and a “bad” one. the good one said that mich was impressed w your achievements. i got that one. did anyone get an email that didn’t have that statement in it which would imply that there are diff emails? or did everyone get that and is there just one email?

Just to let you know, this thread already exists. Let’s combine and we can help each other out!

@s16s18s21s25 I know! I have seen your posts everywhere too!
Our sons have similar interest in schools. Great minds think alike!

Ok. Let’s combine and move to the other existing thread.

Has anyone from NC area emailed rep yet? I did and got automated response. He’ll be out til Jan 11. I heard mich has another round of decisions coming out late January… is there anyone else I can email my letter of interest to?

Yesterday I sent a letter of interest and got a response. I was wondering if anyone has any information regarding whether or not sending a letter of interest (and first tri grades) increases chances of getting in during the regular decision application review? Or does anyone know of someone who sent a letter of interest and was ultimately accepted in the later round?
