University of Michigan Fall 2020 Transfer Decisions

I got an acceptance letter in the mail

Is anyone still waiting for decisions from other schools? UM has such an annoyingly early DDL for the enrollment deposit. I also applied to USC and NYU but they won’t release the decisions until May… Thinking about paying the deposit first and then not go if accepted by any of the two above. But it feels very unethical like dumping someone lol

@cattt1107 You can ask for an extension. I’m in the same boat and planning on paying the deposit if necessary too, since UMich is still one of my top choices anyway.

@cattt1107 Yeah, I applied to CS in CoE. A few people I know have been rejected already. Hopefully they release all decisions soon.

@CHVRCHES Yes I applied. But one of my friends applied with the same reason and got rejected. They have a policy says no extension be allowed if you’re just waiting for other decisions and they ask you to sign before submitting the extension application. :neutral: I guess I will also pay the deposit if necessary.

@cerberex Good luck!

I plan on asking for an extension by citing financial reasons~out of state tuition ain’t cheap ughhh

I don’t know what the deposit is, but in scheme of things I’m sure its minor in order to get what you want. There’s nothing unethical about placing the deposit and then withdrawing your intent if you decide on something else. It’s the nature of the system, not you doing anything wrong.

@TenTsewang4 would you mind to share when you got accepted and when you received your paper copy? I got accepted on 3/18, and I only got the email to ask me fill out financial aid if needed, but I haven’t got any acceptance letter or transfer report yet

I got accepted the 19th, and received my paper copy Friday, the 27th. There’s really nothing in it except a brochure for financial aid and the copy of the letter, and then a certificate. The acceptance letter is also in your portal.

Hey guys, idk if you will have this problem, but it is best to double check with UMich Financial Aid to make sure your FAFSA and CSS Profile are linked to your account. I called them today to ask about appeals and they just told me that they dont have a SS number for me to verify that it is my FAFSA and CSS. You will have to send them a W-2 or copy of ur SS card in order to get verified. They didn’t notify me about this, so just make sure that yours went through.

Accepted into CoE today for Civil Engineering.
Submitted application on 1/24, all materials received on 1/27.
Stay patient yall, I’m wishing the best for all those still waiting.

@DjDumpling congrats, I applied to the same major…still awaiting the decision. Hope to see you next fall

Accepted to LSA today, out-of-state from MA.

@DjDumpling congrats! What are your stats if you don’t mind answering it?

@cerberex Thanks

SAT: 1480, 1560
ACT: 34
SAT MATH 2: 690, 800
SAT BIO: 740
College GPA: 3.7 at a OOS private university
First gen college student

Every application is different (essays, ECs) so I really wouldn’t try to gauge yourself based on stats from other students; it’s also self-sampling that happens on CC. If your scores/grades are within the range of the average UMich student, you’ve shown them that you can keep up academically. I do believe essays matter: I spent weeks working on mine and came up with legitimate reasons for why UMich was a better fit for my academic/professional goals than my current institution.

Don’t stress! I actually sent in my application with the wrong major and emailed an admissions officer to get it corrected, so know that you’re up against other human beings, not stat-padded robots.

@dg62134 You got this yo! I’m pretty nervous about financial aid: I know someone in the same income bracket with a FA package asking them to pay more than what they make in a year so I’m tempering my expectations for now.

Anyone still waiting for results? some got them so early

Hey everyone who got admitted! Quick question for you guys. How do we know which major we’re accepted into? Also, when will we able to see our degree audit so we know which credits are transferred and what classes left to take?

I was gonna take the summer half-term but the registrar’s office said no because I was admitted as a fall transfer. Little sad:(

YAY!!! Got into LSA with CSP requirements with 3.13 GPA from out of state.

Guessing really good extra-curricular and essays? SO EXCITED!!!

Degree audit apparently is in mid-May, and the major you get accepted to? I assume you applied to LSA, in which case you enter undeclared and register with a major once on campus :slight_smile:
