Thanks @djays1997 , I’ am an independent student with a 0 EFC.
Holy wah. Son received his FA last week. $750. His twin is going to another university and paying out of state tuition…which is equivalent to Michigan’s in-state tuition. Except the out of state university gave him a $6000 scholarship immediately. Now I’m thinking of having the Michigan bound student apply to the out of state university. Michigan’s financial aid formula suggests (with two students) that my wife and I need to pay $56,000 per year. Can that be right? We’re middle class…with retirement looming…and both of us have jobs with no benefits, too, so we have to pay everything ourselves.
I’m OOS (I’m an American living overseas) and will be attending LS&A.
My financial aid award was just posted and is awesome! My EFC was “0” and I was awarded all grants save for Federal Work Study ($3,000). NO LOANS. I am so thrilled.
Where did you guys see your official financial aid award. I have a break down on the financial aid award summary page but it says that “Your official financial aid award is shown only on your most recent financial aid award notice.” And the only thing I have there is the estimated award. Can someone clarify my confusion. Thanks!
@Jimboboy Check if there are any documents requested. You need to submit those before getting your offical FA award.
@billcsho Yeah, all my documents are received. I guess the financial aid award summary is the final one?
@Jimboboy Even if they have received your document, it may still take time to post the official FA package. Last year, my D got the official FA in mid May while the documents were submitted and received in early April.
