University of Michigan Financial Aid Award Timeline

Does anyone know when we will receive our award letter? Please post if your WA gets updated… I want to enroll but I cant until I know my award letter is comparable to their Net Price Calculator Estimation for me.

My D got the scholarship notice in mid Feb last year and then the estimated financial aid package around mid to late March.

The financial aid link in my WA portal only says financial aid for the year 2016, not 2015, is anyone having this problem? I submitted my FAFSA in Feb 15.

Mine says 2016, my Financial Planning Calculator just started working today, however no documents have shown up on my WA yet(still using friend account). Submitted my FAFSA on Jan 1st.

Wolverine Access Financial Aid has been unlocked… I have yet to receive an award letter yet, although its probably because I was admitted very recently(2/27). Anybody receive an award letter yet?

@carlsandburgsr, I got an award letter. I only received direct subsidized loans though.

Same I received an e-mail today… Do you know when we will here about scholarships?

Found out today, offered up to 55k (mostly grants + some loans)!

Merit awards are not included with the Financial Aid package, correct? I am assuming scholarships are issued separately.

@halswag15 For me, my merit scholarship was included. Merit + Grant + Work/Study + Loans

@HumNation were you accepted EA or deferred?

My Shipman scholarship of $25000 is on my WA. My other awards - grants, aid, and others - are not available yet.

@carlsandburgsr‌ I was deferred EA, accepted on Feb. 6th. I filled out the FAFSA early January and the CSS mid-February.

My D’s financial aid award was on Wolverine Access today. She received Regents Scholarship (which we already knew about), grant, work study and loans. However, the grant was higher than expected and higher than the Net Price Calculator predicted. I’m wondering if merit scholarship $ was thrown into the UMich Grant line. We were pleasantly surprised that the school is now affordable. We are in state.

@MIMomma The actual grant amount may be more generous than the NPC. Last year, my D got an estimated financial aid package which was similar to NPC but with a couple merit scholarships higher than the scholarships/grant amount on NPC. Then in May, it was revised to have another grant replacing the loan and workstudy completely.

I received my award summary today!
I got…
UM Grant: $31,400
Provost’s Award: $9,725
Pell Grant: $5,775
Federal Work Study: $3,000
Federal Perkins Loan: $2000
Federal Subsidized Direct Loan: $3500
Total Aid Received: $55,400

Quick question… If I accept the loans/work study now, and I receive a 3rd party scholarship later on… can the loans be reduced even though I already accepted them?

Congrats!

Received it about a week ago, but only got $5500 in federal unsubsidized direct loans.

@carlsandburgsr They will revise the FA package whenever you receive a scholarship and reduce your workstudy/loan amount first. They will also update the CoA in Summer so the FA package is not really final even you accepted it.

@carlsandburgsr‌ Congratulations on your award!! If you don’t mind me asking, could you tell me what your efc was? Thank you!
