I’m currently an out of state resident admitted to UofM - my parents will be relocating to Michigan this summer - wondering if anyone has insight to applying for instate tuition in this scenario - my parents will establish permanent residency (~June) before I begin in the fall of 2020 but I see that they ask for tax returns from previous years that will not show Michigan taxes or residency - so is there any type of waiting period in this scenario ? Thanks - Go Blue !
Have you looked here?

Thanks Erin’s Dad - I looked at Section I under residency requirements - but there is no mention of waiting period etc so really just looking for more anecdotal examples from people who have been through the process. Thanks !!
Your considered out of state. You need to apply for next year.
You’ll need to talk to the financial aid department
You are OOS period. You didn’t graduate from a high school in Michigan. If it was as easy as buying a house many would get one. Even if it’s your primary residency. Read the link and then call the school. They will be more then happy to discuss this with you. Once your establish for while then your status might change and why I would call and ask
You have to have gone to HS in the state for three years. There are some exceptions, such as if you are in a military family. You won’t meet the requirement. You’re an out of state student.
