Umich tumblr said they anticipate one more large batch of decisions, although that day has not been set as of now.
I wonder if there are a lot of rejections in that one batch. let’s say most of the class of 2019 is set what would be the best way to protect the yield a larger number of acceptances and see what that number produces or a small number with a larger waitlist?
@Momcat1 , no negative vibes - in fact it seemed rather positive.
I spoke to the regional admissions person covering my area. I explained that I wanted to travel to UM if my son was accepted to visit. He looked us up in his computer and stated that my son looked like a strong candidate and that if he were weak that he would tell me not to worry about planning a trip. I asked if first week of April for a time frame, and he said no “later this month, probably the 27th.”
If I don’t find out tomorrow, it will be too later to plan a trip anyways. Looking for two notifications from Ivys on 3/31 (Princeton & Cornell).
@ECE2397 does that mean that there will be a batch released tomorrow? Also, what are your sons stats?
@rlee07928 Mid to late April would be ridiculous, considering nearly all universities expect the nonrefundable deposit by May 1st, and a couple of weeks or days isn’t long enough to make that kind of a decision. Especially when you consider the fact that people have been waiting for over 5 months for a decision.
Lol. I just talked to potentially the least enthusiastic admissions officer ever. It must be a draining process for them right now.
The only notable info I got was that my application is being reviewed (at first he said it’s already been reviewed so I don’t really know) and that I should hear before April. He mentioned how there hasn’t been a batch since February and that there should be one coming soon but there’s no date.
Hopefully we get a batch tomorrow…
It would honestly be really bad for them to continue releasing in April because most people have probably already got their hearts set on a particular college by that time. Or maybe that’s the point? If they accept people later they know that there’s less of a chance of them accepting the offer, so they’ll get less responses for acceptance and their yield will be where they want it. Though having a low yield is typically undesirable, so that would be odd.
@Kassra17 , I can’t say for sure that a batch will be released tomorrow, just that the admissions officer that I spoke with mentioned “the 27th” during our conversation. Lets keep our fingers crossed!
As fas as stats:
32 ACT - one setting
Class rank 1/63
UGPA 3.93 - WGPA 4.5ish
Many honors and AP classes including the Engineering specific ones like Calc, Physics, chemistry, English, History. Four college credits thru dual enrollment.
Took part in the DukeTip program, took weekend workshops in digital circuit design & python programming at Duke University.
Plays guitar, drums, and keys. Four years in band, percussion captain Senior year.
Selected as a junior marshal last year.
Accepted at NC State & RPI, deferred then rejected at MIT.
Still waiting on Mich, Princeton, and Cornell
@ECE2397 thanks for the response. Interestingly enough, I was also accepted at both nc state and rpi! I have similar stats as your son, I have a 34 on the act, but a lower gpa than your son. I was rejected from Cornell Ed, but my fingers are crossed for Michigan hopefully tomorrow!
Seriously hoping they release more decisions tomorrow. Michigan is the last school I’m waiting on. I got accepted to Maryland, and deferred then rejected from UVA and MIT. Its getting to the point where my parents want to just put the deposit down for Maryland and not continue this long drawn out waiting with no known date to hear back from uMich. Anyway, I have a 3.72 GPA and 2100 on the SAT, 11 total AP classes, attended a space and aviation camp for 9 years, and was regional president of my youth group. Do I have a decent shot?
Guys!!! Michigan Tumblr has been updated within the last few hours with explainations of admit/denied/wait list but it says Fall 2014. Anyone else see this? Possibly a template from ladt year that they didnt change the year on? Looks promising.
@ECE2397 I saw that too! I think that decisions are coming out tonight.
I think they may have posted it by accident because it looks like it’s no longer there.
It’s been removed!
U-M Admissions (@UMichAdmissions) tweeted at 5:07pm - 26 Mar 15:
.@obvioushuman No, no decisions will be released tonight. #UMchat (https://twitter.com/UMichAdmissions/status/581215907546054656?s=17)
Could be tmr!
Yeah, that’s what I was thinking. they never said “not tomorrow”
Omg. Not tonight apparently meant not before midnight. They are apparently up according to others on dif threads.
Still nothing for me…
Any RD applicants got anything?
