Yes they did ask and I applied with CS LSA. as my major.
@devsharma8555 @rsandeep & for those confused about the app saying “undeclared”
“All LSA applicants - regardless of whether they indicated a proposed major on their application - will say “LSA-Undeclared” on their New & Prospective Student Business Portal on Wolverine Access. Students officially choose their major in LSA during sophomore year.” -UMich Admissions website
@rsandeep If you are still interested in UMich CoE, do accept the WL. It costs you nothing. This year they may accept a lot more from the WL…
Is there supposed to be anything in our FA sections on WA yet? Because mine says I’ve got $0. I’m not sure if they haven’t loaded it on there and it just says that because I just got accepted, or because I legit didn’t get any FA.
@uofmPlease Check if you have an Award Notice in your WA. If not, your Award Summary is not updated yet.
OK, so I click on Award Notice and it says "click the aid year you wish to view, I click on ‘2016’ and it says “No Award Notices Found”
So there is no Award Notice released for you yet. Check also the FAFSA Status and Document tabs to see if you have anything missing.
Rejected yesterday. 4th one in a row…
I was just wait-listed as a National Merit Finalist with heavy extracurricular involvement, a 3.99 GPA and a 33 ACT. I didn’t have my heart set on UMich or anything, but I’m a little upset with myself, since I have friends with much lower stats who got in. Does anyone have any insights/ words of consolation?
did you get this today or is this from thursday night/friday am?
At least you already have your decisions… I am still waiting for my waitlist/rejection lol
BrownHopeful27: This happens all the time at all the highly selective colleges that practice holistic admissions. Michigan has said over and over that “stats” aren’t everything. Many other factors are considered, none of which can be quantified. Just move on. Not worth kicking yourself over.
I am OOS and just wanted to say that it isn’t true that Michigan has lousy financial aid. I got a fantastic financial aid offer and they met 100% of my need. I have to take some loans, but not many ($5000 a year). The rest was pure grant.
@excanuck99 After factoring in financial aid, UMich OOS would cost me less than UW-Madison in state, and Madison’s tuition is less than half the cost of Michigan’s… pretty sad. One big reason I’m hoping to get off the waitlist.
@excanuck99 Exactly. I got in with a 3.7 UW GPA and a 1940 (Superscore 1990 but they don’t superscore) SAT. I know affirmative action is illegal in Michigan but I am an Asian male.
@jamesesess That is great. My family is in poverty and we can only afford to pay a few thousand a year.
@excanuck99 What is your EFC? UMich does offer generous aid to low income students from OOS.
I’m stressing out right now because I did not have my CSS filed right away. I am just getting it sent in tonight. Is this going to hold me back from getting more grants? The deadline is the end of April, so at least it’s not the last possible date…
@uofmPlease This may delay your estimated financial aid package. Also, you may risk some grant money,
@billcsho if the npc estimated i’d get $46,299 how much do you suppose this would shave off?
The question is how much grant you will get.
