University of Michigan RD class of 2020 thread

Waitlisted at UMich and rejected at Tufts

Oh well it just wasn’t meant to be! Honestly, I hope this means I’m meant to be somewhere else, and my spot went to someone who really really wanted to be there

Congrats to all accepted students!!! Have fun in the fall!!!

Does anyone know how AP credits get transferred? I got into LSA and the requirement for sophomore year is 25 credits and I would have 29. Does that mean I can enter as a sophomore? Thank you!

Accepted into UMich LSA on Ivy Day but rejected from all Ivies
@ALeynng i received an email

Did those of you who were accepted all get an email notification? someone please reply

Just curious, what does the email say? Does it begin with congrats or something else? @natehuuuu
I’m so scared to check my email

The subject line says University of Michigan Admission Decision and the first word is congratulation in caps @ALeynng

I am sure you will be fine and best of luck, there are a number of schools out there and they’re all great!

@natehuuuu Congrats!!! Shoutout to dat boy for getting into UMichigan.  B-)

It is not where you go, but what you do that matters. Regardless of acceptance or rejection from any school, I’d hope everyone instantly goes back to doing what makes them, them. There is not enough time in this world to dwell over the past. Lets be honest, admissions officers have a very short amount of time to make a decision. An acceptance or rejection means nothing. It is what you make of it.

Accepted to UMich! It says my financial aid is available and I have this as my package: http://i.i m g u r .com/A3YyJk0.png

Does this mean I got a full ride or something? :D/

@nicolet666 I mean technically you’ll be a sophomore, but it really doesn’t mean anything. You’ll have a nice registration date (outside of your first semester since that’s determined by orientation date), but outside of that there is no significance of the # of credits you have except that starting at 55 you have to pay upperclassman tuition.

@hailbate Yuck, I thought I was going to save some money! Thank you for the information

@nicolet666 You better check if there are any useless AP credits. You will have time to drop those credits before the end of the first semester. Useless credits are those that do not getting you better placement or accelerate your graduation. Since you have 29 AP credits, you will likely to have slightly above 55 credits after freshmen year and start paying upperclassmen tuition in sophomore year. My D also started to pay upperclassmen tuition in sophomore year but with 70 credits already. As you are in LSA, the tuition rate difference is not as big as in CoE between lowerclassmen and upperclassmen. The worse case would be for an OOS in CoE with just 55 credits to start a semester. The last credit costs ~$2500.

@billcsho This is super helpful—thanks for letting me know! Are the ones that accelerate your graduation only related to your major?

@nicolet666 Useful ones are those get you placement above the pre-req, or those fulfilled the required electives/humanities. Note that some of the AP credits in LSA require taking the next level class (e.g. Calc) or retaking the class (e.g. Econ), otherwise, you only get partial credits. Besides AP, they also give credits to world language by placement exam.

Accepted to LSA!

Is there any Class of 2020 facebook group?

Accepted to LSA and UMich is literally the ONLY US uni I applied to!!!

I got waitlisted. Does anyone know if I should send in like another essay essentially to my admissions counselor, or anything like that? Is there anything I can do to try and better my case? It’s the LSA college too.

@MountainGrl nah I’m an international student! But Got accepted to undecided at umich, math-cs at UCSD, and math actuarial at UCLA. Give me some suggestions!!!

UCLA AND UCSD are wonderful schools.
