Go to Michigan mathismylife. Presently, Michigan is in better financial shape than the UC schools.
@mathismylife Agree with @rjkofnovi. UM is in MUCH better financial condition that the UCs. Michigan’s budget is expanding. It’s endowment is larger so it is less dependent on the state. And it has the resources to invest and grow. The UCs are frankly in financial crisis mode, with Berkeley writing to everyone to announce a “new normal” of permanent austerity. It’s sad to tell you the trust. The UCs used to be awesome.
Those waitlisted… how do you know that you were waitlisted? The email sounds like a rejection, but with a waitlist link at the bottom?
It starts out like a rejection about no offer and space, but then there’s a ‘however.’
Can anyone please post the email?
just wondering… all umich rejection emails mention transferring for junior year at the end of the letter, right? my mother believes that that’s a unique feature of my letter, even though i think it’s standard.
i think she’s having a tougher time with this rejection than i am!
@ethellou Please don’t read more into the letter than is there. It is a rejection but they are couching it in very nice terms. And in some of the letters they mention transferring in two years. Not however, that this isn’t guaranteed and you’d be placed in the general transfer pool, i.e. it is not deferred admission.
Do all rejection emails have a link for the waitlist? Mine honestly says nothing about me being “waitlisted”. This is all it states: “Meanwhile, we occasionally admit a small number of applicants before the end of June from our waitlist.”
‘However, you have been placed on a wait list.’
@ethellou Yeah, I don’t have that sentence. I thought it was a rejection at first, but am not quite sure.
You need to call them.
And help me convince everybody else on the list to go elsewhere.
@ethellou Just because you didn’t get into umich does not mean you should be trying to tell everyone on this thread to go elsewhere. I didn’t get into Johns Hopkins, but it would be rude and inappropriate to try and dissuade people from going just because I am jealous. Jealousy is okay, but I believe it is important not to act on it. I am sure you will do amazing things at any of the schools you got into. I know dissapointment is hard (JHU rejection was rough) but it’s important to get excited about the options you do have! I hope you have a great weekend!
@ethellou I did, indeed, get waitlisted. I have the “respond now” option on my portal. It seems like there are just different versions of letters, but the portal should clear up any confusion.
I think ethellou was making a joke. Get everyone else to drop their WL so she can go…
@HRSMom I am so sorry if I misinterpreted their post. It is hard to tell online what is sarcastic and what is not!
It is, isn’t it? Especially when a page break cuts at the joke point!!
anybody else not hear back yet that applied to LSA?? do you really think that it will be by “mid april” or sooner??? stressing out over here
@MountainGrl thanks for the suggestions!
Btw, I have a rly weird question but still wanna ask. If umich is really a wonderful school, why the acceptance rate is way higher than Berkeley, UCLA? Is it because of the great number of Californian students?
As I said I’m an international students, many of my classmates got accepted. I’m just a bit confused about this part. Ofc undeniably Umich is super super fastastic~~
@rjkofnovi @klingon97 also really thank you guys~
