University of Michigan Ross Pre-Admits Fall 2017

First off, huge congrats to all the admits! Has anyone else heard today? Also, is Ross sending decisions throughout this evening or all at one time?

@mibalaj Ross sends out decisions all at once on each Friday 5 pm EST. If you haven’t received anything today, the your decision is not ready as of yet. Just be patient till the next Friday at 5pm and hopefully your decision comes out soon! Also regarding your question of not getting a decision yet and the correlation to being rejected, there is no correlation. Most likely Ross will have plenty of acceptances but that all depends on how many people accept their spots at Ross. Out of all the people I know who got accepted to Ross, 4/6 enrolled at Umich for Ross.

hi collegeconfidential - I got a rejection decision today from Ross, so those who are still waiting cross your fingers (but to temper your expectations would be prudent as well I think)!

anyways, 36 ACT, ~4.315 GPA, sister legacy, (probably) pretty good recs, decent ECs, national merit finalist/NHS/national AP scholarship and all that jazz. I assume my essays were shitty or something, or that my interview was particularly poor. accepted EA to engineering

Regardless, best of luck to those still in this cruel UMich purgatory of waiting, there’s still hope!

Are there any EA to LSA still waiting for a Ross decision?

Yes

If you don’t get in preferred admission, can you apply regular admission sophomore year?

Unfortunately, no. You cannot apply a second time.

Does anyone think decisions will be released today?

Gonna wait by the computer and hope!

Better be. Getting real pissed

Rejected. 34 ACT and 3.9 gpa

Even after today, I still haven’t gotten my decision! Definitely a rejection I’m guessing.

Are people just getting rejections from here on out? It seems like it!

Don’t lose faith, guys. They could just be waiting to see who accepts/declines offers of admission to Ross before releasing more decisions (don’t think there’s a waitlist for pre-admits). Making it this far just means that there’s something they find intriguing about you. I know the pain you’re all feeling (also accepted EA, didn’t find out till 03/24). Wish you all the best of luck!

Admitted. Received email today, 15 days after U. Mich LSA admission.

I was admitted to Ross on Friday. Was accepted EA to the University back in December. Long wait was worth it.

Is there a ROSS admit facebook or groupme group?

What was the motivation behind reserving <10% of the b-school class for freshman applicants? Is it for dual degree engineering majors?

I don’t work for UMich, so I don’t have an inside scoop. I just know that they changed the admissions procedure so that almost all Ross students would be admitted directly from high school. If I had to guess … they were losing too many students to other undergrad b-schools that admitted directly from HS. Students who were firm on wanting business did not wan’t to risk being rejected from Ross after investing a year at LSA.

I don’t know if the remaining spots for freshman applicants has anything to do with engineering. I suspect it’s for students who didn’t know in HS that business was of interest. My daughter is in that category (although she was admitted under the old system, when almost all Ross students applied during freshman year). In HS she had no interest in or awareness of business school. Then when she was most of the way through freshman year, she decided she wanted to go to Ross. She realized that liberal arts wasn’t for her (much to her parents’ chagrin) and wanted a preprofessional program. Applied and got in. I’ll bet there are many students who don’t realize until they start college.

I’m sure they also don’t want people to attend Michigan in hopes of getting into Ross, only to be rejected and have to settle for some other random degree
