Official Ross School of Business Class of 2017 Pre-Admission Thread

Decisions for pre-admission came out around this time last year so we should expect them soon! Post your predictions, thoughts, and decisions here.

goodness. i just jumped out of my seat because I thought they came out!

sorry to excite ya, I’ve been that anxious too

I just did the same thing, don’t scare me like that!

Same! Ross is super unreliable as to when they send notification about Pre-Admittance, so I’m not expecting to hear from them until the end of the month, just so I don’t get nervous.

I will be a freshman next year and I applied to Ross for preferred admission. I got an e-mail today saying that I was admitted to the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts for Fall 2013. Does this mean that I did not get into the Ross school? Or do I still have a chance?

Someone also told me that you can only get into the Ross school after 1 or 2 years at the school…

Thanks to whoever can inform me.

@spoons91 The preferred admission results haven’t come out yet so still may be admitted to Ross. As of right now you have been admitted to the LSA, aka you got into Michigan! Congratulations! If you don’t receive preferred admission, then you can take the pre-requisites and then apply spring semester freshman year to be in the Ross school starting sophomore year (as it is a 3 year program).

When do they usually come out?

In 2011, they came out the last week of march. Last year they came out the first week, so its possible we could see them come in in the next few days, mostly likely friday since that has been the trend with Michigan decisions this year

What is the acceptance rate for Ross Pre-Admission?

@spoons91 16%.

That 16% is of already-admitted students, correct?

Here are the figures:

<a href=“Bachelor of Business Administration | Michigan Ross”>http://www.bus.umich.edu/Admissions/BBA/BBA_Class_Profiles.pdf

Yes. 16% of already admitted students that usually self-select to an even higher level. Ross PA is on par with getting into some of the higher Ivy’s (could be even harder than that).

^ I don’t think there really is any self-selection in the 16%. You just have to check off a box to apply… I’m pretty sure almost all Econ/IOE majors apply, because why not!

^If I remember correctly you have to write another essay too but I didn’t even apply as a pre-admit so I could be wrong. But still I’d think that most people that apply pre-admit are the ones more determined to get into Ross. I’m in Ross now but when I applied I didn’t know it was what I wanted to do. I got into honors but even I didn’t apply pre-admit just because I wasn’t sure I wanted in.

There was an essay last year (or two years ago), but not anymore. So yeah it was self selecting before but not any longer. I’m guessing the admit rate will drop accordingly, unless Ross thinks not having an essay will decrease their yield. Which it could, but I doubt it.

^Alright makes sense, I applied to Michigan two years ago.

I’ve been accepted to Ross through preferred admission! I got the email around 2…

has anybody else heard???
