Does anyone know how hard it is to get in after being waitlisted to the University of Michigan school of music?

I don't have any specific info about UMich, but waitlists vary from school to school, and year to year. You could try calling the admissions office and ask how long the list is, or how many they realistically might expect to take. A music waitlist is going to be different from other kinds, because it is instrument specific. You play violin (I assume :) ) so there might be a longer waitlist for that than, say, flute, simply because they need more. You might want to ask how many violins they took this year, as well. If they took 40, their chances of using the waitlist are going to be higher than if they only took 10.

Hope you have some other good options to keep your mind off it! Your post sounds a bit sad -- but if you made it to the waitlist at UMich on violin, you must be pretty awesome.
