University of Michigan Transfer- Winter 2020

How does admissions counselors being out of office and our admissions relate? Is it our admissions counselor who decides our decision? lmao I probably sound really stupid

Mhm, the admissions counselors determine who gets accepted or rejected. But I donā€™t think it matters whether they are in office or not, they do work outside on trips too.

@kmalin Iā€™m not not saying that the admissions councilors are the only oneā€™s reviewing our applications. What I am saying is that they, along with department heads have a final approval over applications. Itā€™s obviously difficult to even look at applications while theyā€™re traveling. My assumption is that they werenā€™t traveling to the same extent during previous years at this exact time and as frequently as they are.

Below is the link to their current traveling schedule. I have also confirmed this because when I originally called my admissions councilor, the phone went to voicemail and had a message from the councilor saying ā€œI am currently out of the office for recruiting events. Iā€™ll be back on October 30thā€

Once again, Iā€™m not saying this is 100% true, just my opinion.

Is it a bad thing if they donā€™t ask for your midterm grades?

@kbot9929 I donā€™t think so. My college doesnā€™t even do midterm grades available or is a thing. So I think it just really depends

They probably need it for people who have an inconsistent or a recent downward trend that they are still considering accepting as additional evidence. I have a downward trend comparing the two semesters and didnā€™t get asked for, so either the GPA and courses are good enough for acceptance or it is not at all? Iā€™m not sure.

Who are your guysā€™ admission counselor? Mine is Jenna McCormick

Mine is Katrina Moseley

Mine is Jenna McCormick as well.

mines is Kelsey Berlingerā€¦ does anyone know if she is also out the office?

One of the UM Reps told me last Friday that they were already reviewing applications and that we should hopefully start to hear back in two weeks or so. I will reach out for another update from him.

Where can you find your admissions councilorā€™s name?

@Ltt897 hereā€™s a link to find your counselor.

my counselor is megan taylor

mine is Andrew Campbell. I e-mailed him and it says he is out of office until the 21stā€¦

Does anyone know if Jenna McCormick is out of office?

I got an email back and they say 6-8 weeks, he told me my application is under review still and that I would be hearing back in November or December.

November or Decemberā€¦ meaning we would only get a few weeks notice that we might be switching universities? I donā€™t see how that works for people from out of stateā€¦

But people back 2 years and a year ago heard back around nowā€¦

I doubt that we hear back in December. That only gives us kids that donā€™t go to school in MI a week to prepare.
