University of Michigan vs Colorado School of Mines

If you are a guy, do not go to Colorado School of Mines. The gender ratio there is a problem. And U of Michigan is a wonderful school. Sorry to sound so, I don’t know, superficial. But, I have known many people who were at schools with really off gender ratios, not in their favor, and it made for a difficult 4-5 years. If you are a woman and concerned about the GPA, then just go to Colorado.

As far as your masters goes, it is fine and all. But, a masters in the fields you are considering studying really is not going to make as much of a difference in your career. With engineering, you will still get an excellent job. If you plan to do undergrad physics and grad engineering, then a masters would matter.

But, on the other hand, it is hard to maintain a 3.5 in engineering. Have you considered the South Dakota School of Mines? Probably late in the game for that. ANd you probably can’t “fix” laziness as much as you think. It is hard to find extra energy to do things in college that you did not have energy to do in high school.

Best of luck to you!

Who said it was easy to fix laziness? I only said I was working on it and that I know it needs fixing, I know its not going to be a walk in the park.

The standards for University of Michigan engineering are set ridiculously high in these departments. Personally, I would favor Colorado School of Mines due to the large amount of government programs in the area hiring aerospace engineers.

Really? Are you saying that Colorado’s standards are much lower?
