@knowstuff are you sure? because my admissions counselor did not acknowledge my LOCI at all but I’m willing to send it again if that means it will be added to my file
Yeah, UM is pretty crazy for engineering. They are ranked higher than some of the Ivy schools (which is fitting, considering they are a public ivy)
Why not just call and ask then?
Besides Cornell the “Ivys” would not be a good place to learn engineering. Some are making strides but it’s not even close yet.
@Knowsstuff do you know anything about the ross waitlist? I already accepted my lsa spot but was waitlisted at ross
Honestly no, sorry. This year is going to be interesting due to the virus. Think you might see some movement off the wait list but congrats if your committing to Michigan. Trust me you can still go into business without Ross. Ross is just one avenue into the business world.
I wonder if Michigan will pull from the waitlist now…they may instead opt to take less students. Starting in the fall with a student population as large as Michigan’s seems almost impossible, given the contagious nature of the virus.
for anyone who wants to send an loci, I’d recommend not to, because when I asked my regional ao, she specifically said to not send in anything they didn’t already ask for.
Did anyone (Waitlisted students) see any change in the portal today?
The middle column (“messages review”) now has THREE sub-sections:
“Decision postponed”
“Checklist Complete”
“Apply for Financial Aid”
I thought there were 2 sub-section before … or am I hallucinating?
JUST GOT OFF THE WAITLIST
ACCEPTED LSA
My son just got off the UM waitlist as did his friend from the same school. Amazing, but what the heck is going on at UM that there is this sudden waive of new admits off the waitlist on April 23rd? Given only about 2% got off the waitlist last year, I really was not expecting this. In fact, I already signed a lease on an apartment in Wisconsin. Wow, my head is spinning.
Just got off as well! This is insane… I’m so excited!
Did anyone get financial aid information?
How were you notified you got off?
My son found out through the UM portal. I don’t understand how they are taking people off the waitlist when regular decision admits have not even had to respond with their decisions yet. Could that many people have declined already, or are they doing things differently this year because of the pandemic? Unbelievable.
It’s a different year, U Chicago started accepting off the waitlist weeks ago. Trying to get these out ahead of official deposit dates on May 1 to increase the yield on the offers. USC offered 2,000 extra spots this year. My guess Michigan opted to use their waitlist instead.
Accepted off of waitlist. OOS California Mechanical Engineering. After 18 rejections im so happy to get a school that fits me. Thank You Michigan! Good luck everyone else! This year doesn’t look as bad as last year’s statistics! Have faith!!!
My DC just got email with acceptance. We cannot find any financial aid info on portal. No even EFC. Should we try to call school tomorrow?
Letter does not have any dates or any extra info. I guess deadline is the same May 1st to decide.
