I study business in Brazil, and I'll have the opportunity to go to one of these two schools. However, I dont know which one is better for me. I am looking for a college that has a good reputation, and I am looking for a good place to live in my six months stay. I know that Tulane is well-known for their constant parties, but I dont know if this will jeopardize my experience. About University of Minnesota, I know that it has a huge campus, and a really nice city, but I dont know if it is a good business school.

Can anybody help me?
Thanks.

The University of Minnesota-Twin Cities is ranked #21 according to the US News business school rankings. In contrast, Tulane University is currently ranked #40 on this same list. Keep in mind this is the graduate school rankings, but I am sure the undergraduate levels are similar. Here is the link: [Best Business School Rankings | MBA Program Rankings | US News](http://grad-schools.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-graduate-schools/top-business-schools/mba-rankings) . If you are basing your decision soley on the school’s reputation, then you should consider the U of M.

The campus is in a great location and there is plenty of public transportation available. The university’s size and its weather are two negatives that come to mind!

Depends on what 6 months lol. If winter avoid the U. But seriously, for undergrad b-school both are very similar. Tulane’s rep will get you further in the south, U’s rep opens more doors in the midwest. Unless you go to a top 10 b-school, no one will really take note of whether you went to Tulane or U of M.

Minnesota is better for internationals. You’d fit in a lot better here because of the diversity it offers. Also minneapolis is a lot better than New Orleans and you’ll experience a different world that you will love.

I certainly like the Cities much more than NOLA. I also think you would get a better taste of the USA here in Minnesota. Winter would be a unique and possibly fun experience, though it could make things difficult if you don’t tolerate cold well.

Carlson is excellent for business, but that doesn’t matter too much if you are just studying abroad for a semester.

Hey Everyone! Thanks for the replies! They were very helpfull.

Just let me give you some more infos: I am going in the summer, so I think I won’t live the snow experience in Minnesota.
I decided to go to US because I wanted to experience the culture of america, the Entrepreneur spirit, and other stuffs that only US have. Having that in mind, I would like to choose a school that could give me that culture experience. Here in Brazil, the undergrad college where you went is very important for your professional experience. That’s why I am a little bit worried about the reputation that each school have.

Besides, I am a little afraid of the size of UofM. I think it will be harder to fit in.

Thank you very much!

U of Minn has a brilliant swarm of friendly foreigners – I’m sure you’d fit in just fine. That coupled with the superb Carlson SOM would totally be an awesome, although fleeting, experience :)

…Also, what program would you be under in? And when do you plan on studying abroad? We could provide you a better answer with those in mind.

EDIT: NINJ’D LOL. Composing a -more- relevant reply atm…

School/s attended kind of matter everywhere. Lol. Both schools are great, I’d give you that. Although, I’d suggest you inquire about the program you’d be under in and the requirements you better off be presenting. If the “exchange” (or whatever is the app. term) would follow identical policies as admissions then having a “safety”–which means applying to both plus more than a few Unis or Colleges–would be a wise choice/surefire proviso.

In case I get admitted for Spring 2012, I’d happily guide you through the basics of crosscultural education. We could grab some food, too. xD
