Is the University of Missouri-Columbia (Mizzou) considered a strong academic school? I know they are often lamented for their J-school, but is it a reputable institution to obtain an undergraduate education from?

lamented for their J-school? I don’t think you’re using that term correctly.
Anyways, I applied to mizzou as a financial safety.
It’s just a middle of the road state state with a big sports culture

I’m not too sure why I typed lamented. I had trouble getting that thread to post, and I edited it a few times. *celebrated for their j-school. Thanks for the reply though.

Also, if you’re in the midwest you will qualify for the midwest student exchange. In this program you pay 150% of the in-state tuition for Mizzou, but it’s limited by major.

Also, what do you mean by state school? Like flagship school? Or…?

Yes, it is the flagship university of Missouri.

Would UMKC, Missouri State, Northwest Missouri State be considered state schools?

Yes, but they are not flagships obviously.

Shameless bump for more opinions.
