I knew I’d get into the U and I really like it all around, so I thought I’d end up going there. I applied to UCLA because it was my dream school and I figured I wouldn’t get in, but I did get in and now I’m not sure where to go. I live in Minnesota, and I’ve been to LA but I haven’t toured UCLA. I really like the location, but it’d be a huge move. I know the feel of a college is very important and I had that amazing feeling at the U, but I still feel like I’d like UCLA but it’s hard to say because I’ve never been there.
The only thing holding me back from UCLA is the price because for out of state students, it’s around $60,000. I also don’t have a set major in mind, so the logical decision seems obvious to go to the U of M (close to home, save a lot of money, already familiar with the location), but I know I’ll regret not going to UCLA when I’m given the opportunity. There are pros and cons to both, but what do you guys think?
Can your family afford UCLA?
In general I think going to a new part of the country is good. However if the funds aren’t there for UCLA, you can experience other parts of the country through internships, research experiences, domestic exchange, etc.
