How holistic is ND when reviewing applications? I have a 33 ACT and 4.12 UW GPA. Struggled a bit my freshman and sophomore year but have gotten straight As all junior year and first semester senior year. I own my own business (LLC) where I help gymnasts get recruited by colleges and create them a custom athlete profile (basically a mini website). For the recent community event essay, I wrote about the events that occurred with Larry Nassar and the entire USA Gymnastics sexual abuse scandal. I knew Nassar well and so I talked about that and how my life and the gymnastics community around me was affected.
Do you think that sets me apart enough? I fell in love with ND when I visited but I feel like my chances are so low.
What were REA admittances looking like stats wise? I have a 4.2 W / 1550 / 800+720 subj tests, good essays, unique research experiences but I don’t think my chances are looking great.
@irishfan21 Universities have admissions counselors who are assigned to your region/area who know the schools in that area. For instance, I go to a school that requires 4 years of Theology which cannot be honors or AP classes. So it won’t help our weighted GPA - and they know that. So in short - it shouldn’t be a disadvantage!
Calling the admissions office will not help you. They (and every other admissions office) will tell you the same thing: they are coming out by the end of March. So hold tight everyone. Just a few more days.
I got in EA with a 27 ACT and 3.6 UW gpa. I was not the most confident in my academics, but my extracurricular activities must have gotten me in. Don’t worry my fellow gender neutral friends,
Hey, do you mind telling me what kinda of activities you did and type of classes you took? My scores are very familiar, and was a 2 year varsity football captain. I did some volunteer with kids youth program and youth football program. Hoping my essay gets me in. I wrote about how being deaf has affected me while attending a mainstream school (hearing school).
@nashville615 I can’t definitively confirm anything, but 6:42 Eastern time on Wednesday makes the most sense at this point. For EA, portal info was released on a Wednesday and decisions the following Wednesday at 6:42 Eastern time. For RD we received portal info last Wednesday, so I would expect decisions this Wednesday (at 6:42 again). Although honestly, the only thing that seems consistent is the 6:42 time - basically everything else we’ve been wrong about.
For the REA cycle last Dec, emails instructing applicants on how to set up their portal were sent after 8 pm Eastern on Wed, Dec 6. Because in the 2 previous years the actual REA decisions were released on a Mon, there was a lot of speculation that the decisions would be posted on Monday, Dec 11.
Instead, REA decisions came out on Wed, Dec 13, at the usual 6:42 pm Eastern time.
