I’m almost positive I will be waitlisted now. I received the snail mail dated 3/16, but after getting waitlisted by Middlebury, Williams, Lehigh, and Georgetown today, I see no reason why Penn would accept me. Nonetheless, I did receive 4 years of housing at BC, so I’m not too out of my league.
@loz4life all admissions decisions are independent, and one result cannot predict another. That is the only thing I have learned from this process
@nerdbregade – I just have to jump in when I see “no correlation” or “independent” mentioned in regards to college admissions. While it does feel like a very noisy system, is also mathematically true that for the universe of all students applying to all colleges, there is a correlation in admission outcome between any two schools to which more than 1 student has applied, and it is rarely zero. I haven’t seen anyone do that actual analysis, but it would be fascinating to see.
@Itisatruth I mean statistically speaking would there be some correlation found? Probably. But admissions are not scientific or mathematical in nature at all, it’s a highly subjective process with many variables. It is interesting to think on for sure, but there are so many confounding variables in the process I doubt you’d ever be able to derive legitimate results.
is anyone else on here differed from ED?
@connections your student got in ED though correct? ED students are only now receiving this letter as well for financial aid documents if they are still not submitted. Penn does not send out a similar letter in its ED round, regardless of document receipt
SOOO I just got the finaid mail as well, but it was dated March 23, soo I’m thinking the rest might come in the mail today or tmrw before decisions. Fingers crossed this is a good sign.
Is it off-putting to anyone that so many people have commented that they received the letter? Then again the like top 2% are the ones that even bother to come on this site…
so is no one else on here differed?
*deferred
@jen2016 nooo, I believe you stand a chance. I just got mine today. There may still be mail going out…
Hmm I wonder if it makes a difference hat I got the March 16th notice and not the March 23rd one (yet anyway)…
@nerdbregade - all that matters is if we get the March 30th one!
@nerdbregade probably not, since they contain the same contents: missing docs
For those getting the financial aid mails, did they ask for citizenship verification/passport?
nope
Is it normal that I didn’t get an FA mail if I didn’t apply for fin aid?
@wormholes Yes, they would only send it if you indicated that you are applying for finaid
@ptolemycleopatra Thanks! Idk why I’m even asking… my chances of getting into Penn are like 0.0000000001% haha.
@stressedsenior99 how many people do you think got it on this thread. my guess would be less then 15 which isnt that many.
