Hi guys, do you know if Penn sends likely letters? I know a few years ago they sent videos to some successful candidates. How about now?
I got the letter for missing finaid documents today. Postmarked the 23rd
One of my friends got a likely letter through email for the nursing school @webuyourselves
It’s strange that these letters are being sent at different time intervals. Maybe decisions are being sent to the FA office at different times? In previous years I saw that some people even got multiple letters, one from last week and one from this week. Is this your first letter? @neuroscience19
@stressedsenior99 I actually got an email on the 20th from an individual penn email (i.e. not the general finaid email) requesting the same document. I haven’t heard anyone else getting the email. Not sure what it means, if anything!
This wait is killing me!
Hmm so you got an email first and then a hard copy letter later? Also, are you an international applicant because that might be able to explain the email @neuroscience19 Did anyone else get an email too? I only got a hard copy letter and then took care of everything so I don’t think I’m going to get anything else
No, I’m not international @stressedsenior99
I sent the documents right away, as soon as I got the email… I guess there was a lag? I emailed the general finaid email in February and they confirmed all my documents were in, so I’m not sure what happened. @stressedsenior99
Does anyone know why there aren’t any threads about this financial aid since 2011? Also has it been confirmed that there are people who didn’t submit all the finanal aid files but didn’t receive the letter. I’m asking cause why would it make sense to only send it to a few applicants and not everyone who needs to finish financial aid.
@random987 I submitted all the financial aid documents I think but the CSS Profile didn’t transfer them all to Penn for some reason, so it looks like Penn didn’t receive them all, and I never received a letter… safe to say I am most likely rejected It was a long-shot though so I’m not too upset.
@random987 it has been confirmed. People on this thread have said earlier (or the financial aid snail mail thread I cant remember) that they know for a fact they did not submit all of their forms but did not get a letter. Also there arent any specific threads since 2011, but if you look in the 2020 discussion, people mention it. With some extra sleuthing I have found out that all of the people who commented that they received the email were accepted.
There are lots of discussion about this in 2015 and 2016. They are in the main RD thread but not in the individual threads.
Here’s one from last year

Thanks for the quick reply guys !
We received the following message when we submitted Penn financial aid:
“Thank you for submitting your Penn Financial Aid Supplement online. You will be notified by the office once all of your financial aid application documents have been completed and reviewed.”
But we never heard back from them so I just assumed that my daughter isn’t being considered for admission, so they didn’t bother getting back to us. I guess we will find out soon.
@kslinky Did you send in anything else besides the PFAS? Because I also got that confirmation but got a letter because they were missing my parents’ W-2 forms
@stressedsenior99 everything else we did through Idoc
I thought that Penn doesnt use IDOC which is why we have to submit all this other stuff
For what it’s worth, we forgot a finaid form, no one emailed us, and my son got in. (We found out we needed the form only when he didn’t get a finaid package.)
Good luck to all.
