University of Pennsylvania RD Class of 2021

Does anybody know the Penn email address for sending application updates?
I wrote on my application that I would be taking 7 AP exams but now I will be taking only 5. And I won an FBLA award yesterday.

@Magnetron Tell your son that Penn was (and still seems to be) a work hard/play hard type of school. I attended a generation ago and can honestly say I’ve never worked so hard academically or had so much fun. Really diverse group of students and you could really find people to do what you wanted or liked to do…whether it was go out and party, stay in and play games, go to a movie, or yes study. From what some insiders (some neighbor kids) who go there tell me it really hasn’t changed a bit.

@Magnetron @SwimmingDad Penn is definitely a work hard play hard school. Keep in mind that what this means is that most students are super busy with their academic work and extracurricular work (ECs are a huge part of Penn) during the week and they go out and have fun on Thursday, Friday and/or Saturday night. There are not many Penn people who chill during the week. Of course in such a big group of kids, you are found to find people who do not really participate in extracurriculars and are not very social. However the majority of the people have the kind of schedule I described above.

I was fortunate to be selected for PEEP (Penn Early Explorers Program), and I really fell in love with it there during my 3 day stay in October. The campus embodies everything I am looking for; like-minded academically curious students, a diverse student body, hands on educators, a vibrant urban campus…I cannot wait for decision day! Good luck, everybody!

I still haven’t been contacted by an alum for an interview. Do you think my stats were so bad they discarded my app already :))

@wormholes No, it just means that they don’t have enough alumni in your area to interview everyone. No worries!

How long is the average interview?

@emli8100 Ok thanks! I’m just kinda worried because my friend, who lives around 10 miles from me (different school district) got an interview and I haven’t. Thanks though

An average interview is 35-45 minutes.

i got offered a virtual interview…does anyone have experience with this?

Is anyone from South Florida that got an interview? My daughter hasn’t heard anything but already interviewed for Cornell and Duke months ago.

@wormholes Yes, I did mine on Skype. Dress casually as you would for a person-person interview. Try to look at the camera directly as it will simulate you giving proper eye contact with the interviewer. If it helps, put some googly eyes on the camera to help create this feeling of eye contact. Don’t have responses you’ve thought about open on the screen during the interview as your interviewer will notice that your conversation is scripted. Instead, be normal and it’ll be good. It’s a plus if you can establish common ground with your interviewer as well, so you should aim for that, although it’s not always possible. Mine lasted for an hour exactly, but I think 45 minutes should be good enough.

@YoohooAddict Thanks! If I don’t have a Skype ID, do you think a phone interview would be okay?

@wormholes I’d prefer you make a Skype ID. If you can’t, then a phone interview should be fine!

@YoohooAddict Thanks so much for your help!

@wormholes My pleasure m8! Good luck in your interview!

@YoohooAddict thanks :smiley:

Ahh good luck to everyone! Cant wait to apply next fall. Already getting nervous about it.

will penn send out any likely letters this year? :o

I would assume so, since they do every year. Based on past years, I assume they will send out likely letters starting about 3/1.

Keep in mind, likely letters are like fairy dust. The vast majority of accepted students do not get a likely letter. In fact, only about 200 are sent to non-athletic recruits. So don’t keep refreshing your email in the hopes that one will show up.
