university of pittsburgh 8 yr BS/MD program

how does this work. i just got accepted to the undergrad after specifying premed in my application. The website said to be considered for the program you have to choose premed. am i being considered for the program and how long should i wait for 8 yr status and financial aid?

Call them. It might be Feb or it may be April.

if you just got accepted to the undergrad, you should receive a letter within a week or two (three is possible) whether your credentials (1450 SAT and top 1% of class) meet the requirement, after which they will let you know whether they have considered you for the program or not.

as for financial aid (such as scholarships) that will probably come around the same time as the 8-year med decision.

I got into Pitt in october, and by late october they told me about my financial aid (scholarships) and my candidacy for the BS/MD program.

as for decisions on the program itself, interviews are from march 2 to march 31st, and decisions will be made after that.

can you finish the program in fewer than 8 years?

it didn't state anywhere on their site (that I saw) that said one way or the other. I'm assuming you will be allowed to finish in less than 8 years, however.

It said, upon completion of your undergraduate degree

why do you want to rush

Already have 1 year of credit; kind of wasteful not to use it.

evil - i got a letter from pitt saying that i can call them to schedule a guaranteed admissions interview (sometime bw/ jan 8 and march something, i think)- but i called and they said they haven't started scheduling yet. Have you been able to set up an interview date?

mine said call AFTER jan 8

Meadle- I received a letter similar to that, except in october. they printed the wrong information on mine, we're supposed to call for an interview after january 8th.

Thanks:) I got mine in Oct. too, actually. I called them today and they told me they made a mistake on the letter - we probably got the same one, before they fixed it.

does anyone know the # of people every year that are invited to interview and accept the invite?

its pretty low. for both.

getting an interview is just a matter of the requirements. if you have them, you are pretty much guaranteed an interview.

for those who DID get an interview, how did you do in terms of scholarships? I personally got a full tuition scholarship, and applied for the chancellor's scholarship.

Evil: same here:)

awesome. i'm trying to see how likely it is that I get into the program (its my #1 choice for all colleges), and if there are lots of people that got the interview that didn't get a full scholarship, I have a better chance (at least I hope).

Here's to nailing the interview meadle, good luck to you

hell yeah, evil, you too:)

did anyone make it in? I got accepted to their undergrad and got a full tuition scholarship

Congrats @MonalGarg no news so far
