University of Pittsburgh Class of 2022

Any word on merit-scholarship offers, yet?

@shop No merit yet, I don’t think they begin reviewing for Merit Scholarships until October. I’m not expecting to see anything come through until November for my D18 (assuming she gets any).

@hailtopitt1787 , if a student applied using the SRAR but then his high school sent an official transcript shortly after, would that delay the decision?

@hailtopitt1787 I applied to the School of Nursing and am waiting to hear, (submitted app 9/23) I’m worried that because it is such a small class, and so many applicants that I will not get in. Does Admissions offer alternative admittance to Dietrich Arts and Sciences automatically if I’m declined or is this something that I have to let them know that I would like to be considered for?
Thanks for any information you can provide!

@AmyBeth68 Thank you

@shop, Merit scholarship decisions are typically sent November-February.

@Aida, It shouldn’t. If you would like to check the status of your application and let us know that you sent us both the SRAR and the transcript, you can call: 412-624-7488.

@gail22, I know we do automatically consider students for Arts and Sciences in some cases. I am not entirely sure how the Admissions Committee handles this kind of situation with Nursing applicants. If you would like to discuss your specific application and consideration for Arts and Sciences as secondary alternative to Nursing, I would recommend that you call our office for more information: 412-624-7488.

Best of luck, everyone!
A Pitt Admissions Staffer

Called the Pitt office to check on status. They told me that my D app was reviewed and they would require mid year grades before they can make decision and letter is on the way. Not great news that I/She wanted to hear but happy to know that there is still hope for my daughter. she really loved pitt . Apps submitted on 08/31

@sulu Good luck…sending all the positive vibes your daughter’s way.

@sulu do you mind me asking what your daughter’s stats were?

@Amybeth68 thank you
@sunflower4 My D 3.62 (w) 1300 sat
Full IB with lot honor and Ib courses. Her GPA is on lower side due to rigorous IB courses I guess.Applied to Dtrich

What are the chances my S18 gets merit aid with a 3.95 GPA and a 1470SAT?
We are in state and he goes to a elite high school with some APs and many honors classes
Also will his chances improve drastically if he can get it to a 1500?
Thanks

@stella99 from the Pitt website:

University Scholarship Recipient Profile

In recent years, scholarship eligible students possessed ALL of the following:

Minimum SAT score of 1480 or ACT composite score of 33
Overall ‘A’ average
Challenging high school curriculums consisting of AP/IB/Honors courses
Top 5% class rank (if applicable)
NOTE: The above criteria are provided for the purposes of guidelines only and not meant as scholarship requirements or guarantees.

This is for University Scholarship, Chancellor is even more competitive.

@stella99 looks to me like your son is definitely in the running with his stats :slight_smile: GOOD LUCK to him!

@AmyBeth68 Thx! Do you think it is worth it for him to try and get a 1500?

@stella99 it really can’t hurt, but he’s for sure in the mix regardless!!

i got the buttons today !! applied to dietrich school of arts and sciences on 9/21 33 ACT 3.8 UW GPA !! hoping to get merit aid and invite for med GAP

All Pennsylvania students, make sure to apply to the PA specific Nordenberg and Stamps scholarships. I believe the minimum stats are a bit different on those and also leadership and other criteria might be taken into consideration.

@hailtopitt1787 Just to confirm - if S applies through Coalition, the SRAR portion of the profile will be sent to Pitt, right? Do we need to request the official transcript as well? Thank you!
