University of Pittsburgh Class of 2026 Official Discussion Thread

Hello all.

I applied to the University on 10/19 through the Common App. I got access to the PS Mobile site and I am able to see my submitted test scores have been received. My guidance counselor told me that all necessary documents have been submitted. Is there anyway to verify this on the portal? Also, the PS Mobile site indicates that I am applying to the Dietrich school as an undeclared major, even though I indicated a neuroscience major on the common application. Any advice?

How were you informed about the PS Mobile site? My DC received the emails to set up an applicant account, but there hasn’t been any further communication about where to use that account to log in.

If your child has the login credentials, you can google PS Mobile Pitt to find it and there is also a downloadable app.

I have found the Pitt portal isn’t exactly intuitive. To check to see if your application is complete, login to the portal (not the app on your phone). You should see a bunch of rectangles with various links. Find the one that says “Access the Student Information System.” That will take you to your login screen. From there, if you haven’t set up the page yet, you will see basically a blank page with just your user name in the dark blue banner at the top. If you look to the right of the screen, you will see a small clickable link that says “content.” Click on it. A white box will pop up on the screen. Check the box for main menu and then save. You should, hopefully, then see a box on the left side of the screen with the main menu in it. The second heading should say “self service.” Click on that and the self service menu will appear on your screen. Look for the “Admissions” or “Student Admissions” tab (they both seem to have the same info). Now click on “Application Status.” Finally, you will see your application number, date you applied, etc. Underneath of that information, it should say “This application is complete.” If it is not complete, I’m assuming that it will tell you what is still needed.

Hope this helps! If all you have available is the app on your phone, you may still be able to check your application status. You’ll just need to go down to the bottom of the drop down menu and select “Full Peoplesoft Site.” From there, you should be able to follow the steps above. It’s not working on my phone currently (that link isn’t opening), but we’ve done it in the past.

so helpful - thank you!

@Camelbak - you won’t see the major until acceptance. Ignore the ‘Undeclared’ until you see the buttons

Thanks for the clarification. @hischoolmomof2 @spidermom03

Hi! Has anyone who applied the. week of October 11th heard back yet?

Spidermom above did. If you applied that week, it looks like you should be hearing any day now. Good luck!!!

Thank you!!

Applied on 10/4 but application considered completed with SAT scores on 10/11 and she heard back last week.

Yes, CTDad is correct! My son applied late on a Friday night, so his application wasn’t downloaded and marked as complete until Monday, 10/11. He was accepted on Monday, 10/25 (business school). I’m sure that where you are from and to which school you are applying makes a difference as to when you are notified. Good luck!

Application shown complete 10/12, portal access 10/14. Still waiting for decision
OOS. CS major

My son applied on 10/4, in state and was accepted on 10/19. We were very excited to hear so soon! He took all AP and honors courses and has strong extracurricular activities and leadership, including varsity sports. I always find it interesting when people post GPAs because all schools have a different grading scale …it would be great if the grading scale was universal. Good luck to all!!

My son is a senior there and lives in Panther Hollow in Oakland area near campus. He has had zero issues with crime and he is all over the city, has made the most of living in Pittsburgh these past 3+ years lol. It is a great place to live and go to school! We love Pitt and I am hoping his youngest sister decides to join him next year. It is in her top two

My D got accepted and received $15K per year in merit scholarship. We are out of state. Does anyone know if she still might be considered for chancellor scholarship or this means that she is not eligible anymore since she got some merit?
Thank you!

@galaum1 Congrats to your D! What major did she apply for?

Thank you! Biochemistry.

Congratulations! Can I ask how long before you heard about merit. The wait is so stressful!

I am definitely not an expert on Pitt (or their merit awards), but based on the information we have seen, students who are admitted to the Honors College may be invited to apply for the Chancellor’s Scholarship. Since previous year’s threads have indicated that Honors College decisions come much later, I would think that your daughter would still be eligible to apply for the scholarship if invited at a later date. I would also think that most students who are eligible to apply for the Chancellor’s would probably have received a merit award earlier in the process.
