I’ve come across this university recently in my college search and it seems like a really good college for me, both environment and financial aid wise. However, there doesn’t seem to be much on their art department? Does anyone know if their art apartment is good, especially for graphic design?
I don’t know much about the school myself, but I can tell you than when my daughter (a senior, headed to MICA next year) started her search, she was looking at both art schools and liberal arts schools/small universities with good art departments, and her college counselor mentioned Redlands as a school she should look into. California was a deal-breaker for my daughter (we live in NYC and she didn’t want to go so far away), but otherwise it would have been on her “visit list.” One thing to note, though–unless I’m mistaken, they give a B.A. in studio art rather than a B.F.A., if that matters to you. My guess is, with a BFA is graphic design, you’re not going to get the depth of knowledge/experience that you would with a BFA program, but you will get a more rounded academic education. My kids’ school did send one student to Redlands last year (not an art major, but probably something artsy!), and it sounds like she’s VERY happy there!
