University of Rhode Island Class of 2025 Decisions

My daughter’s portal doesn’t have any updates besides it indicating that they received her mid-semester grades. The suspense is killing us. We are waiting for URI and UNH.

Daughter could not be offered admissions into the nursing program
1360 SAT
97.8 GPA
Lots of APs and extra curriculars

Pretty shocked. She applied regular decision so I’m thinking maybe that could be the reason considering people with lower scores are accepted. Or maybe her application just wasn’t strong enough. Definitely discouraging and dissapointing considering URI was one of her safety schools. She got accepted into other programs that are apparently more challenging to get into, but this was still a blow to her confidence. Being a nursing major sucks!! Is this happening to anyone else?? Getting denied from schools that they’d probably be able to get into if their major wasn’t nursing?

My son just got denied for mechanical engineering. He had applied EA. We were surprised because URI was one of his safeties. Fortunately he has some great options. Perhaps the acceptance rate at URI is way down this year?

From what I’ve heard, college admissions have been pretty crazy this year so a lower admissions rate could definitely be a possibility. However I’ve heard several students get accepted into the nursing program with much lower SAT scores than my daughter. SAT scores don’t always mean everything though, so I guess that’s the case with Rhode Island. So sad that they didn’t get into their safety’s, but I’m glad your son and my daughter have some other wonderful options! Best of luck

Thank you! Yes, I wonder if the SAT scores were even part of the decision. Best of luck to your daughter too!

Just curious if they let you put a back up major down? I was wondering if when applying competitive programs like engineering if you are given the option of putting a second choice less competitive major.

I can’t remember if there was an option for a second choice major on the application, but he did have the option to have them reconsider under a different major.

Are all uri regular decisions in? My Dd applied a while back and no decision showed on her portal. I haven’t seen much activity on the uri threads so wondering if more people are waiting

Yes, we’re still waiting! My DD applied early action for chemical engineering, then they wanted her mid-year grades. Those were received at the end of January. She’s heard NOTHING and is very frustrated. She has already narrowed down her choices from her other acceptances and if URI comes in with a yes, she’s so mad she doesn’t even want to consider them at this point.

Still no word … My DD is leaning to another school now too. All other New England state schools have replied by now.

Has your daughter contacted the school?

Yes, about a week or two ago. They said they will release by the end of March and thanks for your patience. So, we wait! I guess we will have our answer within a week. I don’t see any other uri regular decisions coming through so I am guessing we are all going to know at once or this thread doesnt have a lot of invested people!

Same with admissions communication here. Now we’re there - end of the month! Have you heard yet? Radio silence here. (Same as others, mid-term grades sent in Feb after submitting EA, last school waiting on).

Daughter still waiting too? My son is and is so aggravated also. Final school he’s waiting on.

Still waiting…no updates. We found that other schools kept in touch before giving a decision just to keep her intersted - emails, invitations to virtual events, etc., but like you said - radio silence.

All of this. Baffling.

No word yet! I guess tomorrow is the day. I am glad to see a few posts here so I know that my daughter has not just been overlooked. Good luck to all.

Same to you!

Check your portals! My daughter was waitlisted for ChemE. She’s furious. She has offers from RPI, Stevens, RIT, NJIT, Clarkson and others. This is her only non-acceptance. I’m really glad this wasn’t her #1 choice.

Son was denied, his only denial. We were a bit surprised.
