University of Rhode Island EA for 2023

I have heard the food is normal college food - we have eaten there several times for visits and it is typical of a lot of colleges. We have been to over 50 campuses and have two older kids in college. I would have to say our UMass Amherst child has hands down the best food - but URI is probably typical of what we have seen. We were able to eat healthy - we are going on April 1 to ASD and plan on trying more while there.

UMass is also in our daughter’s top 3! I am going to PM you if that’s ok with a couple of questions on how the schools compare.

I’m a RI native/URI alum living in Southern California. I usually take a Southwest flight to Providence from LAX or Long Beach with a layover in Chicago Midway. It’s pretty reasonable and a nice break in the middle. Depending on where you are in the Bay Area, I believe you can do something similar from San Jose, Oakland or Sacramento.

Thank you! We decided 4/15 for a tour visit and we are doing back to back flights from our spring break getaway (also a LONG flight) so going direct to Boston this time and renting car. So $$$$$ (seriously I think I could go to Europe) but going forward will prob do YOUR option or whatever is cheapest if she ends up accepting URI. Excited to check it out.

Curious to hear what you all think when you return. Daughter was in the mood to discuss details today and we went through a bunch of the nitty gritty details today. I told her at some point she’s going to have to with where she feels most at home. Hoping that becomes clear to her after visits next weekend.

For future reference-- Hartford perhaps is another option- even Albany may be easier than contending with Boston traffic. Best wishes! :v:

Hi! Any locals that can help? Or folks that visit RI?

We have a full day Sunday 4/16 to explore Rhode Island. And a rental car. Any great suggestions. Thinking Newport and Providence but I also have no frame of reference where to go or whats best and we just want to see the beautiful state/ eat etc and not drive all day. Thanks

Try to check out Newport, Narragansett, Jamestown. Lots of restaurants & cute shops. Plus of course the mansions & cliff walk. There is a neat car museum in Newport for an indoor activity. Overall, a beautiful coastal area to drive around if it’s nice out, grab lunch and spend time at the beach!

HELP DATES

Hi! My daughter has decided to enroll after a great welcome day 4/15. So I cant find dates for move in or parents weekend. I sent the school a note but haven’t been able to get a direct answer yet. Anyone know for sure? Sounds like I need to book a hotel asap for both. We are from CA so I need to get on it as I dont really have a back up plan. Thank you!

Yes! Very excited. When visiting both schools a second time the right choice became very clear to her very quickly!

That is great - you know when it is “the one” when that happens! We love both for different reasons for the two of our kids who are there or are going there. Very excited for URI!
