No, haven’t heard about honors yet. On the Facebook page, an admissions rep said that honors decisions will be communicated by the end of January. They do have LLCs that appear to be organized by school/major, but I haven’t been able to find anything on honors housing either.
Daughter received an honors college invite in the mail today, so keep an eye out this week for mail
My daughter got her Honors invite today as well. There is an online virtual event regarding the honors college so hopefully they will answer some of the questions that we have like - do the honors students have first shot at class registration, housing, different study abroad options etc? Some schools it is more just an “honor” than anything to put on your resume, other larger schools like URI I am hopeful it puts the student first in line for registration.
That’s great! Will be keeping my fingers crossed for my daughter. Her stats should qualify her for it, but not sure how they decide who is in vs not. I thought for sure she would at UMass, but did not.
Anyone doing the visitation days end of March and early April? We are going March 1st for the Neuroscience/Pharmacy program day and wasn’t sure if it was going to be the same type of tour/event later in the month.
anyone else still waiting for a decision? sounds like so many have heard already?? thought for sure we would have by now
My daughter was accepted with the Presidential scholarship for biology. Was also notified of acceptance into the honors program. URI is in last place on her list of 8 schools she applied to, and we have not yet visited. She applied because they have a forensic science minor, but she is a bit hesitant. Several kids from her HS have committed to URI and then transferred out after a year. She is a very much top stats kid (1530 SAT, 4.7 weighted GPA, 5s on all AP tests so far) and is worried she will be a dork in with kids who really like to party. She’s certainly not opposed to a good party, but also wants to find her people.
EVERY school has dorks and party animals. UMass Amherst is still zoo Mass in many ways but my child is flourishing there with a near perfect GPA and huge opportunities. URI is an amazing school and has all kinds of people there, same as any school. Maybe she is your first child to go to school? I have 2 in college, one at a smaller Catholic school and one at UMass, both as high achieving as your child and they find all walks of life there. A lot of kids transfer in and out of schools and speaks more to the individual than anything else.
My daughter has very similar stats and received a similar scholarship and honors invite for neuroscience. She too was nervous about finding her people but we reassured her she would. URI is her top choice though. I am a UMass alum and definitely found my people there.
Good to know, thanks! I am a UVM alumni - from when it was known as a big party school - (maybe it still is?) but like URI it has thousands of students with all different interests and found a lot of serious students there as well as ones who were not!
My D23 was also accepted to the honors program - she’s studying communication. No notice in the portal or email - old fashioned mail!
My daughter got an invitation for the Honors program in the mail today! There’s a virtual meeting for it on Feb 13
My daughter got hers as well! Loved that in came in the mail.
Has anyone NOT heard yet regarding EA? will connect with admissions tomorrow but wondering if anyone else still waiting??? TIA
My daughter hasn’t heard anything either. Everything was submitted in October.
same here - thx for responding
We have heard sorry for those who have not and I would def call admissions to see what was up - they have always been very helpful when we have called.
Just received an email that my son was accepted into the Honors program.
Definitely reach out to admissions.
Did he get the paper information as well? My daughter got it last week with the QR code for a virtual meet.
Not yet… just the email.
