University of Richmond EA decisions

I was admitted and given a presidential scholarship!

4.31 weighted GPA (3.80 unweighted)
34 superscored ACT
33 best individual ACT

I’m really happy!

@totallyspies1 international student that asked for aid here and mine didn’t say that…I got deferred too with a 1480 SAT and 4.0UW.

International student here too from Vietnam.
Deferred with 1480 SAT and high GPA considering the prestigious high school I go to.
@totallyspies1 Mine also didn’t state that, good luck!

@ShredderRob You may want to consider having your D’s counselor call to get some feedback. They are likely to be more candid with them. You or your D are likely to get a response saying there were so many qualified candidates this year, we didn’t have room for them all. They may give your counselor more insight though and hint at what the issue(if there was one) was. Your D should also reach out at some point to convey continued interest and update them with grades etc. Your D has excellent stats, and Richmond is known as a bit of a score school, so I can see why you are perplexed, but the Spider essay is also important to them

@totallyspies1 my sister received the same letter What is your stats?

@totallyspiesone we are also international.

People who got admitted and applied for aid. Did you get your financial aid package along with the letter?

I think that it is safe to assume that she probably wont be getting merit money if she is picked up in the RD round

Apologies, just found the “University of Richmond EA Decisions” thread. Her details are similar to a number of accepted students in that thread. Mods feel free to merge.

Hi all! One of our kids applied Early Action to U. of Richmond and was deferred. She has already received generous scholarship packages from Loyola (MD) and a few other schools, however, I believe Richmond is her top choice. Does EA deferral usually mean no merit scholarship is likely? Thanks much!

What does the outside of the envelope look like if you have been accepted? Won’t get it until late in the day and don’t want to wait?

International students ; did you get the letter by regular mail ?

No- there was only a statement that said "if you applied for Financial Aid you will hear from the FA office in early February.

@danko21 - it says something like - is this the envelope you’ve been waiting for

I imagine that richmond offering the merit scholarship to some and not others, All with similar scores, is a way for them to incentivize those from areas outside their normal recruiting area to come. We are from the NE, and son applied to comparable NE schools. All things being the same, he will probably go to one of those schools. But with a presidential scholarship, there is pause, and richmond stays in the mix, for sure. Richmond will have tons of students from Va and areas surrounding, and I imagine the criteria for those students is a higher bar for merit.

We are also in New England. D’s stats and EC’s, leadership roles etc. are right in line with presidential scholarship recipients. UR is her top choice, though no presidential option was included with her letter. There doesn’t seem to be a pattern as to who is selected and we remain hopeful she is under consideration for Richmond Scholars.

I got accepted! my school doesn’t do gpas but i have mostly As with some Bs. Legacy. 34 ACT. Essays were ok, and my college counselor said my recommendations were strong. I go to a really really tough high school (feeder school to Yale) and most colleges are aware of how challenging it is. I’ve shown a lot interest and I think that paid off.

For people who haven’t received a letter yet it’s possible the deferrals/rejections went out later. My friend lives in the same town as me, but still hasn’t gotten anything 2 days later.

One of my top 5 so we will see what happens but good luck everyone, and go spiders!

Just got accepted! 4.26 weighted GPA, 1500 SAT. Go Spiders!

@Laila11877 no, intl students are informed through email.

it does seem like everyone who has received notice so far is either accepted or deferred…unless if denied just staying off this thread now?
