Has anybody here gone to one of these engineering schools and if so could you elaborate on your experiences, I would highly appreciate it.

U of R is very academic, very nerdy. That's all I can contribute. I hate Ohio if that counts for anything.

I am at Miami of Ohio, a psych major so I cannot say anything for sure about the engineering classes, but the engineering majors I know do not seem driven at all and very few take school seriously. Rochester is a better school in general academically, has a much better location and engineering is one of its top selling points. Ours is business.

PS I applied to transfer to rochester if it means anything.

Are you saying that Miami's Eng is bad and that a lot of people just get throu gh it?

I'm just saying that's what it seems like. I have no right to say whether or not it's true. I know a number of people in my dorm who switched from engineering to another major after first semester, which either implies its really demanding or the kids really just don't have a passion for it. Personally I think if its what you really want to do you're going to want to be in an atmosphere that really challenges and inspires you and truly, there's not a lot of that anywhere on Miami's campus. For a "top 100" school, it's not incredibly academic.
