•University of Rochester RD Class of 2020•

Sorry about your decision. It wouldn’t be your interests. The three years out might be a long time for them, and according to the data I have seen, SATs should be in the 2100 range for good admission chances.

Or just luck - that too. All these schools turn away qualified candidates.

Class 2018 25%-50% SATs 1850-2170. So I do not think you NEED to be in the 2100s

But why would the gap be an issue yet some people go back to school at 30 to do undergrad??

Well I sure hope so! My SAT score’s 1850 and I’m hoping that I showed enough interest during my interview and that my ECs are good enough to make up for it… Honestly, I’m just hoping I’m lucky enough to be admitted.

ECs and academic record, validated by standardized tests, and confirmed interest… Did you consider the ACT?

@Kito94 It happens, but it’s the exception not the rule. It may or may not have been a factor in their decision – it’s just something you highlighted, and it made more sense as a factor than expressing interest in one of their academic subjects did. But the bottom line is that there are myriad factors in every decision, including the priorities of the individual admissions person reading your application. While you might be able to predict accurately that a given person might not qualify at all, once you’re in range, there’s no predicting. Although many of the criteria (e.g. scores, grades) are objective, the decision is subjective. And sorry you didn’t get admitted. It’s always discouraging, but hopefully you have other good options.

I may add, too, that a 30 year-old shouldn’t expect to be admitted as a resident freshman.

And, just sayin,’ I wouldn’t want my son’s room mate to be a 30 year-old.

@porcupine98 well I have Bucknell left. Got into Saint Louis but even with the 8k scholarship I got, that fee would make my fam go super broke. I guess I’ll study in my country and postpone my American dream for now. All the best

By ‘that fee’ I mean $47k :frowning:

I feel you :frowning: I got into NYU but the FA is too less. @Kito94

And when are the decisions gonna be released for the rest of us!? This is so hard.

@Kito94 you can always come back as a transfer  Everything happens for a reason. You never know why something ‘‘tragic’’ can eventually be considered good. I always say that America isn’t the whole world. The most important thing is that you are happy. Don’t forget that there are numerous great universities in Europe that can be afforded
This may seem excessive, but I believe it is important to know that everything in the world can be fixed except death. Don’t let anything break you.

Does anybody know if more decisions will be released today?

@Litle926 Did you see the earlier post regarding this? Someone said the rest of the decisions are supposed to be posted today because the acceptances were mailed yesterday supposedly.

@NICE8x I saw that. I was just wondering if anything else was new? Thanks!

@zekosadieurokrem thank you!

do you think that if we haven’t heard yet, that’s a good sign? I know a lot of waitlists and rejections were posted yesterday.

I wouldn’t bank on anything, honestly. Who knows if notifications were by category or geography or last name or what – sounds as if they’re just trying to manage traffic.

^^ wishful thinking!! So so so nervous! I hope it is today tho

Yeah good point. Well, good luck everyone!!
