@zekosadieurokrem Haha CC has become my new home. I’m a bit anxious for decisions, can you tell? XD
@elc2435 hahaha same [-O<
Anyone know if decisions are expected today, Friday or Saturday? The admissions tumblr has been saying in answers to questions that a large batch is going out this week …
@Winky1 I would think that it would go out today or tomorrow as the admissions office is closed on Saturday - or at least I believe they are! :^))
@Winky1 yeah probably sometime today or tomorrow… But I have yet to get anything :((
I JUST WANT MY DECISION! IT HAS BEEN KILLING ME WAITING THIS LONG
I thought maybe somebody would have some scoop from a guidance counselor or a friend of a friend, etc. The reason I thought it could be Saturday is because that is the day Boston University is releasing their decisions (or at least that is what they have said). So I think a Saturday is possible. I hope it’s not!!
Wait, who else is from MA or the New England area and hasn’t received a decision yet? I’m suspicious they send out decisions by region because no one out of the 14 who applied from my school has heard back yet (including me).
@NICE8x I live in MA. I haven’t received my decision yet but two of my friends have so unfortunately don’t think that theory holds.
With all the hype about the upcoming decisions I feel the need to ask you guys about my credentials. 1930-ish superscore SAT. Easily Top 5% of my class. Weighted GPA is in the 4.3 area I believe with nearly all AP classes this year (AP Chem, Physics, English, and Calc as wells as Bio, APUSH, and Comp. Gov’t and Politics which I got 4, 5, and 3 in respectively). I got the AP scholar award last year but I’m not sure if that is huge. I was a varsity soccer player and on National Honor Society member. Didn’t do many extracurriculars because I work part time at a restaurant which I noted. And I got the Bausch and Lomb award from them last year. I’m a little antsy because I didn’t schedule an interview because I wanted to finish up all my applications first
Sounds like a rigorous curriculum. Did you consider taking the ACT? Standardized test scores should validate class rank and high-school grades, but the benefit of doubt goes to high school rank and grades, put into context by the school profile (ie strength of the school’s student body). B&L is very big! Can’t quantify the importance of an interview, but if a school offers interviews, you should take the interview, as it indicates interest in that school. The ECs come into play for merit awards, and there’s something on Rochester’s site about this. Just my analysis as a dad.
I considered taking the ACT but it isn’t offered at my school or any nearby surrounding school district and since my area is rural it’s a little bit of a drive to take the ACT somewhere else so I opted to take the SAT some more especially since I feel more familiar with it. And yes my curriculum is very rigorous, my I’ve probably taken the most APs out of anybody in my class (of 330-ish) so it’s definitely something I pride myself on especially since I do well. As for the B&L award, I think my school has a solid relationship with UofR because they work together to give the award to one junior student at my school every year so I guess my school is viewed favorably by them. Lastly, I did have an official visit to the campus, but that doesn’t make up for the interview I assume. Bad timing for me I guess, I wanted to apply to my Top 5 schools then look at things like visits, interviews, etc. but the interview deadline passed by before the other school’s deadlines were up (I didn’t really understand the importance of interviews at the time which was my mistake)
So since the official Rochester tumblr account says that decisions will be released by the end of this week, can we assume that it’ll be tomorrow?
@alc2435 When I talked to the assistant dean he said some time next week. The committee makes their decisions by tomorrow, then the dean spends the weekend looking over the decisions. Maybe the bulk gets released then the fringe applicants are sent to the dean?
No way are decisions being released later than Sunday. I’m feeling that they will be out tomorrow, but it could be over the weekend.
Assuming decisions are being released tomorrow (which I am still guessing/hoping most are) good luck to everyone!
I’ve been waking up too early and sleeping too late because of my anxiety. Haha. I need to know soon so if I’m rejected I can get over it sooner. =))
It is gonna be next week
@Sherylock what is your source?
The official Rochester tumblr page says: “A large batch is going out this week. If you’re on step 4 then you’re close to receiving a decision.”
When did they post that? If they posted it yesterday then I highly doubt decisions come out today
