Jay Roach and Danny Strong win for Game Change
"A USC alum has been nominated for an Emmy Award every year since 1973. This year exceeded expectations with twenty-five nominations. Jay Roach ‘86 and Danny Strong ‘96 won for Outstanding Miniseries or Movie, for Game Change the HBO biopic about the 2008 presidential election; with Strong also winning the Outstanding Writing for a Miniseries, Movie or a Dramatic Special award for the same project."

Game Change was awesome.

Yes, USC often has a lot of “talent” in the film industry - it goes hand-in-hand with being the top film school stateside. Some people might tell you that a film degree is not meaningful due to the film industry’s top-heaviness, or to the difficulty of breaking into Hollywood (some bitter graduates might call it “corrupt network with people obviously grandfathered in”), but the industry pipeline is only so large, and a USC film degree is almost currency in some places in Southern California. They work hard, of course. There are even rumors that they preselect hardworking students for the degree programs since a lot of talented graduates with great work ethics must be good for business.

There is a long list of SC Emmy Award winners. Some have received more than one. Alumnus, Matt Waters, has received five Emmy Awards.
