University of Southern California BS/MD

So looking at the med school rankings, USC has a decent overall research rank (34) but a less than favorable primary care ranking (87).

What does this mean? Should interested undergrads avoid the bs/md program at USC because of the low score?

Scores mean nothing. What matters is how YOU feel about the school, and how well YOU do as a student there. You’re going to be a doctor either way. So no, I wouldn’t avoid the program because of their low score. But hey, if you’re avoiding it for that reason, I’m sure there are plenty of other students who would kill to have that extra spot available to them.

I will say that any major research university is a perfectly dandy choice. You could practically throw darts at them blindfolded, as someone else on this forum has suggested.
