My daughter has been accepted to both USC and Wellesley. She is having a difficult time deciding between the two. She applied to USC as an International Business major and undecided with Wellesley. She has travelled extensively and would like to go abroad her junior year. Could someone please give me their opinion on the difference between a business and an economics degree. I do know that she truly doesn't know what she would like to do, but feels that for the time being declaring business as her course of study will give her the most opportunities of having a degree that will be useful and tangible. She is very familiar with the 'SC environment as both her father and grandfather went there. She will be attending both schools open house's so hopefully that will help her with her decision. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Take a look at the Wellesley forum - there was a thread about the differences of the two degrees a month or so ago. All I can say is that in my field (biotech), there are no CEOs or Presidents with busienss as their undergrad. degrees. They all worked in the field for a while before getting their MBAs. An MBA after a few years in the industry seems to be the usual route to the top in tech.

Will she be OK with gloomy Boston weather and snow vs the eternal SoCal sunshine? Will she be OK with a school of 2500 undergrad only students vs. a larger school with a blend of undergraduates and grad. students? She need to decide if these are important factors for her after visiting. Good luck to your D! She is lucky to have such excellent choices!

Did anyone find a summer internshp while on study abroad? How did you find the internship? How did you arrange an international interview?

sorry- this was supposed to be a new thread.

USC Marshall Business is one of the top business schools. Absolutely take USC. It is a great school with many study abroad opportunities. The USC alumni network is legendary.
