University of Sydney / Going to University in Another Country

Hello all,
I was accepted at the University of Sydney to begin studying in July of 2017. I would love to hear peoples experiences of going to USyd and what the process was like. If you didn’t go to USyd, but another school in Sydney, what was it like? Lastly, if you went to university in another country, what was it like leaving family, friends, old life and being alone in a new country? Basically, if you have any information that might apply, I would love to hear it!

Hey , can you please tell what steps did you take to apply there . thnks

Sure! What do you need help with? What course are you applying for?

I’m in the process of applying to a few schools there. Almost finished with University of Sydney.
You said you’re starting in July,2017 which is the second semester right?
I thought about starting then but I also heard other things about starting halfway through the year. Like for some programs it’s okay to do it but in others you should start at the beginning. On my apps I signed up for March 2018 but I’m not sure if I should enroll sooner. How did you decide? I don’t want to be out of school for that long. But it would be nice to have the break and spend some time working.
Did you apply in any other countries like the UK?
I’m sorry I couldn’t answer your question but there are a lot of blogs and youtube videos about student life.

I only applied to Australia, might consider the uk but im not as big of a fan. Some programs simply do not allow you to begin mid year. I personally think its fine though, they actually stopped my program from taking in July after I was accepted, so I had to apply to a new program. I would enroll sooner, just because it doesnt really matter, youre still taking the same courses.

That’s true, I guess I’ll try to get in midyear. I just didn’t know what it would be like starting at the time.
Try looking at schools in Scotland, they are more… Not lenient but flexible I could say. You’re first year or two you can study two other subjects with your course. So I’ll be choosing Int’l Relations and might choose to study a language (another one besides the one required for my course), and Maybe politics or something. I just like the way schools are structured there.
Anyways this is about Australia. I’ve completed Sydney and Adelaide’s application, just need to submit.
I’m not to worried about leaving the US. I know someone else wood planning to study in Canada. And my friends said they’d try to visit. My family is…well let’s not get into that.
I think it would be an amazing experience.
