Hi, all! I'm nearing the end of my junior year of high school and The University of Tampa has been my dream school for many months now. Because I'm fairly early in the college timeline, there are still some unknowns as far as my credentials, but here's an idea of where I stand.
As of now, it looks like my 3-year GPA will end up being around an 80 (on a 100-point scale). This is without weighting of any sort. I haven't taken the SATs yet, but my scores on the PSATs were as follows:
Critical Reading: 640
Math: 450
Writing: 680
Hopefully by the time I apply, I'll haven broken 700 on the Critical Reading and Writing sections and at least 550 on the Math.
As far as extracurricular activities, I'd say I've got those covered, as I've participated in many clubs, programs, and service initiatives throughout high school thus far.
I'd be interested in hearing from students who have applied what my chances of acceptance look like. Did any of you apply with a similar GPA? I plan to apply very early (maybe as early as September), to increase my chances of acceptance.
Additionally, if any current UT students could give me a better sense of what the program for Undecided students is like, that would be greatly appreciated. Are students given the chance to sample classes from several different disciplines during their first year, in order to give them an idea of what they may want to major in? Or is there a greater emphasis on polishing off school-wide general education requirements and just visiting the Academic Advising Office for help in selecting a major?
I look forward to hearing from anyone with pertinent information- thanks in advance!
