Anyone waiting on college of fine arts?
@rdhdstpchld let us know the outcome - good luck.
The website says “If you applied to the College of Fine Arts, the School of Architecture, or an honors program and completed your application by Nov. 1, you may receive a notification that we need more time to give you a final admission decision. Because applications to these programs involve additional elements like portfolios and faculty input, they are still in the application review process. You will receive your admission decision no later than Feb. 27.”
Son rejected. OOS. ACT 31 SAT 1390 WGPA 4.8 UW 4.3 School does not rank. 2 sport Varsity athlete. Volunteer work. PT job. AP/Honors. Very Strong essay. Applied to Engineering. Accepted Purdue, Ohio State.
@UTWannabe23 thanks - the system basically hung up on me after 15 min; lol “try calling back later as our lines are very busy” wheeee. Gotta start dinner!!!
My DD applied to College of Fine Arts for BFA in Theatre as her first choice major and BA in Theatre as second choice major. Does anyone know if the entire College of Fine Arts applicants received the “still need more time to review application” message? Or just a select few? She applied priority by november 1st. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
I applied to Art and Entertainment Technology and I also received that message too. I’m guessing it was for majority of the fine art applicants
@kmacrna I was wondering the same thing.
@bms2222 Yes, my son is waiting on COFA, AET major. Status updated on Friday to “Thank you for submitting your application to The University of Texas at Austin and your interest in the College of Fine Arts! Given the number of applications we’ve received and the increasing demand for some programs, we find that we must complete an additional review of your application before making a final decision.”
My D applied Nov 1st priority to SOA and received the same message too
My son was offered the CAP program. Does anyone have experience with their child going through this program?
He is looking at going to UT Tyler and transferring into UT Austin year two hopefully into Biology. How competitive is transferring into a different major at UT Austin outside of Liberal Arts?
@TX75, trying to use the CAP program to transfer into a major outside of the College of Liberal Arts (COLA) is similar to all other transfer students coming from everywhere. No benefit.
Thanks. We are hoping it might be a little easier to get his degree program as a transfer versus straight out of high school.
@izfluence I can’t say anything about her chances, I was accepted into PACE as well this year so I have been talking to current students who did the program. I know a sophomore who did PACE is now a marketing major in Mccombs. This was not an option, so she had to do some type of transfer process. However, she told me as long as you keep a high gpa your freshman year and talk with your adviser about how to reach your desired major, it should work out! so i’d say your friend should definitely give it a try!
@TX75, I have a copy of the Kindle version of the “Your Guide to the Fortyy Acres” book that a former UT admissions counselor wrote. He has a chapter on transfers with info by major/school. I will take a screen shot of the relevant info. Will CC let me post it?
I’m sorry, I was misremembering. It’s not from there. It’s from the UT website. I had looked at it because my daughter’s very close friend was also CAPped for Bio and she and my daughter have been talking about her transfer options.

So I had a question about us fine art majors and the cap program. I know the deadline for cap is feburary 8th and the portal said that I will get my decision around March 1st. I called the office of admission about this and they said they don’t know what will happen. So does anyone know what will happen?
Thanks everyone!
@Meadow530 That’s perfect, thanks!
I got deferred from Dean’s Scholars. Does this mean it is likely to be a rejection?
