Glad to see some familiar names on this thread from 3 years ago. My BB turned LHS and is now in his 3rd year on the 40 Acres. He’s loving it there and is doing exceptionally well. A proud Longhorn Dad here.
DD just hit the submit button on her application last night and so now starts the excruciating slow and anxiety filled ride to April 2019. It’ll be harder for her to get in than her brother but we are still hopeful she can join him there on campus.
Good luck to everyone, parents included, as this is a time you won’t soon forget, but wish you could time warp through. The reality for most, and I do mean the majority of you including those IS, OOS and International with high grades/test scores, is that you won’t receive confirmation until late January/February. And, there will be little sense of it all. Plenty with lesser stats than you will receive their acknowledgements long before you. Those seeking Honors Programs may wait even longer. Since scholarships and financial aid isn’t fully known until April, a full decision will have to wait until then anyway. So, get ready to hurry up and wait.
Good luck, God Bless and enjoy the ride. Hook’em!!
I applied on Sunday, I am in the portal and they gave me a notification that they have all materials required. I am an OOS with a pre-pharmacy major and I don’t want to get too in depth about stats or achievements but baseline I am an IB student with a 4.3 and 1500. does anyone have ideas as to when I would hear back? I would love to hear at least one admissions decision before winter break as I don’t want to be stressing with the holidays, I also get my wisdom teeth out so I would rather have solace in an early action decision rather than worrying about regular decision deadlines and all that
@caps813 You look like a good candidate but as an OOS applicant it’ll be a tough road. You’ll be vying for roughly 2500 spots against ten’s of thousands of IS/OOS/Int’l applicants. (Similar situation my son had trying to get into UNC Chapel Hill) I’m assuming you’re applying into CNS, which is also a high demand college at UT. You can certainly get in, as others like you have but it will be tough. Odds are you won’t hear back until after the holidays. Hang in there and get some sleep. Congratulations on your successes and Good luck.
OK so I procrastinated and wrote essay A for UT but not any of the supplements. So I don’t know if I’ll make it by priority deadline. Does anyone know if the deadline has a larger acceptance rate?
I’m applying for Liberal Arts
I think the only difference, or at least UT says so, is that priority hears back earlier than regular folks. I would rather take some time to edit your essay and short answers and submit them all by the regular deadline than to procrastinate for the priority one. UT cares more about the quality of your application rather than when you submit it.
Ok so I know I am auto-admit (I have confirmed it multiple times with my high school counselor), but I have not heard anything back from the school regarding on my admission itself (I know I have to wait till February for decisions on majors) Does anybody else have this kind of problem? Honestly I’m a little freaking out inside bc from last year’s thread auto-admits should have been hearing back about their admission ages ago…
Same issue here! Why are they not releasing the auto admit decisions?! For the last five years, these decisions were sent by this point in October. Daughter contacted admission rep who told her, “auto admits are usually notified approximately one month after their applications are complete.” Um…no. Daughter submitted her’s by mid-August. If they aren’t going to send out notification it would be nice if they at least gave their admission reps accurate information.
In the past, did they admit the auto admits to the University itself and then a couple of months later, admit auto admits to their particular majors? If so, I wonder if they are going to do it as one admit this year? Admit to the University and the major at the same time? That would explain it taking longer. Otherwise, I guess everyone is dehydrated from lack of good water and processing everything slowly. lol
Yes, in the past it was usually a two step process for auto admits. Mid October notification of auto admit status and then at least a month or more before finding out about your intended college. Unless they are College of Liberal Arts, Education, Undergraduate Studies, or Social Work they will have to wait until much later for decisions on their majors.
Has anyone else’s application changed from “priority” to “regular” decision. I logged in to my daughter’s app yesterday and it says under “please select a deadline for your application” The regular deadline for U.S. Freshman applications (12/01/2018).
Where did the priority option go? I know she selected it when she began the applcation.
@cinn124 , where do you find the information labeled “priority or regular” decision? My daughter’s application doesn’t say either that I can tell. It just says “Your application for admission is in review”. It has been that way for a very long time it seems. She applied on August 3.
@TXRunningMom , I believe that @cinn124 is referencing the Apply Texas application which would be consistent with the last statement in the post:“I know she selected it when she began the application.” If you look at the first line under your child’s “Biographical Information” tab on their completed Apply Texas application it includes a “Deadline Selected” field.
@fatherof2boys and @cinn124 , Ah, now I see what you mean. My daughter’s says “Regular Decision”. I don’t know if there was a priority option but she applied on August 3rd. If there was a special option for getting notified sooner, I’m sure she would have checked that box!
@TXRunningMom, yes my son’s ApplyTexas app was completed in September and it states “Regular Decision” as well. I’m certain that he would have selected the priority notification deadline as well, if it was offered.
A couple of years ago, my eldest son was a review applicant to UT and he received his notification of acceptance to COLA sometime before Thanksgiving and I recall a couple of weeks thereafter he also received notification of his acceptance to Liberal Arts Honors. I’m getting the feeling like its going to be a much longer wait this time around.
@TXRunningMom , @cinn124 and others…I inquired about the Priority option with UT Admission office counselor in Houston and he said as long as application is is submitted before November 1st, it will be considered as Priority and don’t worry about the Regular option in Apply Texas. Let’s see… we submitted ours two days back status page shows all needed material was submitted already. It’s a wait game now…
Has anyone see a change in “my status” page? My daughter is an auto admit and her application has been complete since August 6 and “in review” since Oct. 8th. She noticed today that although it still says thats its “in review” it now shows that her transcript is under the “Things to Do” tab? when you click on it it says its been uploaded but still needs to be reviewed by the office of admissions. Has this happened to anyone else?
@mamah , My daughter doesn’t have a “Things to Do” tab. Under the “Done” tab, it shows her transcript was received on August 3. You say this is a new development in your daughter’s status? Was the transcript under the “Done” tab previously? Interesting… I can’t help but hope November 1st is a magical day for us all for notifications. Maybe this is something that happens before admission like Texas A&M’s magical 3 tabs going to 6 tabs before notifications go out?
