got in to Plan II honors tonight!
@UTWannabe23 Congrats! Did you receive your acceptance tonight as well?
@kansha - Thanks.
acceptance was last Friday with the wave …
I have applied to Computational Engineering (A fairly new major at cockrell) has anyone gotten into that major or have any insight on it, thanks.
so will everyone have a decision by 2/1 regardless of one’s major?
@aspiringaggie Priority applicants are guaranteed a decision by 2/1. Regardless of major.
If I have a 1340 SAT, 3.76W, 4.57UW, pretty full resume, OOS, double legacy, what do you guys think about my chances of getting in are? I applied to the nursing school as my first choice and undeclared as my second. If they don’t accept me for nursing could they give me my second choice?
@mgeek23, I got in during the December 7th wave, but applied in August/early September
If the note posted by UT Admissions last week was accurate, the guaranteed a decision by 2/1 may only be Acceptance or Deferral. I just can’t remember when Rejections come out, but I’m hoping they don’t come out til much later into Feb/Mar.
There will be rejections (CAP) on 1/31-2/1. Most students heard yes/no on those dates last year. There are some majors that had to wait until mid-Feb-March 1 because they have portfolios submitted (Architecture, Social Work, and I think nursing rec’d deferrals on 2/1 as well).
I know this has been asked by a few people, but does anyone have any insight into when Honors College decisions (specifically in CNS) are released? Haven’t been able to find any information at all on the website about decision timeframes, and I hesitate to call/email and bother them.
Had anyone heard back from the School of Undergraduate Studies? I haven’t seen anyone mention it!
Anyone hear from the College of Education yet?
@shaoxoxo there is a student (in state, not Auto) at my DS school that got accepted last week with Undeclared major. I didn’t know that was even an option!
Applied in Oct., have not heard anything. (English major).
My DD applied toward the middle/end of October (Engineering), but hasn’t heard back yet. She also applied Honors and for the Forty Acres Scholars. I was surprised when some of her friends who had much lower scores, GPA, rank started to hear back, but she even said about one friend “she applied a lot earlier than me.” It’s really our fault that we didn’t know the system worked this way, with “waves” of notifications. DD was accepted by another elite program that indicated if you applied by 11/1, you would have an answer by the end of December. All notifications were sent out at the same time. I assumed UT worked the same way, but I know Engineering is very competitive. I’m confident she will hear back by 2/1, I just didn’t know it might have been beneficial to get her application in back in August or September! Ah well, she’s the oldest–“practice” child!!!
FYI, she also had a friend accepted as an undeclared major last Friday.

Don’t feel that way. Applying earlier would not have made any difference. There is no rhyme or reason to UT’s notification process. My son applied early enough, right when the applications opened (in August I think), yet has not heard back. On the other hand, some applicants who applied in November already got their acceptances. Just seems utterly unfair and ridiculous.
So, again - please don’t feel like you are at any kind of fault.
Agree with @jamgolf - using kids we know as an imperfect sample, the application complete date had nothing at all to do with whether they were accepted in earlier waves.
