@angelyh1 Actually Asians make up about 23-24% of UT’s student body which is the largest after white people (about 32%)
is pace better than cap ?
My daughter got CAP… My question is … she applied to nursing so odds were against her… if she takes CAP will she be automatically admitted to UT nursing? If not, no point to even look at CAP. She and about 20 of her friends got CAP tonight… at least they are finding the humor in it together. It’s so sad that great students from a competitive districts will end up going out of state.
what is CAP? Is it In state or OOS???
@TXDad56 All the best to your daughter! Thank you for being such positive and supportive member of this forum.
got capped tonight. in state 7.1% 32 ACT. applied for biology
CAPped

Being Asian is a curse for college admissions.
sORRY @jamgolf YOU DESERVE MORE LOVE. I hope you got into other Dream Colleges. All the BEST.
@aggiehope22 No, CAP only guarantees admission to liberal arts
My DD is in-state and she got PACE. We are over the moon! Have another DD who’s graduating in the spring who transferred into UT her sophomore year so the ACC (Austin community college) path is not out of the norm for us. And we’re Austinites so absolutely thrilled to have her in-state, in-city! Congrats to everyone!
Most of the Asians who make up UT’s student body got in through auto admission
seriously, that sucks. I don’t feel so bad. Asian too, and from a private school.
Yeah. That’s the holistic admission process in a nut shell for you.
it is strange. my child applied before Nov 1 and still has not heard. OOS McCombs? I have seen acceptances to McCombs, but not alot. They had a BHP interview. So weird.
My daughter and every single one of her friends who weren’t Auto-Admit were CAPped tonight. All of them in top 10% at their in-state high school.
How is it possible some top 6% are saying they were capped? Shouldn’t top 6% be auto admit for in state students? Trying to understand the process!
Can you tell me what makes some Texas residents auto admit but others are not? Thanks
Texas high school students who are in the top 6% of their graduating class are considered auto-admits.
I think there are some rules around small class sizes but I don’t know what they are.
@hcmom65 I’m also an OOS McCombs applicant, submitted before Nov 1, waiting to hear back! I haven’t been contacted by BHP, but plenty of people who have interviewed still have not heard back
They don’t reject any instate students right ? they either get pace or cap?
@moneyplays They have to be exactly 6.0% or better to be an auto admit. Even 6.01% is out of the auto-admit range. Hope that helps.
