Well, at least she wasn’t capped. She still has a chance for full admit!
omg did anyone get in, who wasn’t automatic???
I think this wave was just caps. so many good students got capped.
i know of some people getting in that weren’t automatic, they got in during the last wave
@milomilo1616 Not true. Lots of great in-state students get rejected that are not auto-admit.
@atx888 - have you heard of any outright rejections? I have only seen CAP tonight (for non auto-admits). I guess CAP is a rejection but not straight up
Like many others posting tonight, my twin daughters were CAP’d tonight, along with at least half a dozen of their friends. I don’t know if it’s useful or not, but just for reference, here are their profiles: COLA/Psych applicants, ACT 32/33, SAT 1300/1360, GPA 3.83/3.73, top 25% (HS doesn’t rank), varsity volleyball/cheer, TKD black belts (8 yrs), decent recs and essays. We’re definitely disappointed, but we’ll figure it out. Good luck to everyone!
I know people who have started their own businesses, had leader positions at work, even an internship at NYU…
Why did UT get so much harder to get into this year?
I know people who’ve started their own businesses and had NYU internships. All with great stats and decent essays.
Why was it so much harder to get into UT this year?
sorry i posted twice, it didn’t show up on my screen
Capped in engineering. Non-ranking rigorous school…4.2 GPA, National Merit Semi, 36 ACT (yes, really a 36) good recs and decent but not outstanding resume. Wow. Very disappointed.
TAMU and Scholarship here we come.
Congrats to all who get in!
@dixiechicktx - I believe rejections will be released on 2/1 or after. I don’t consider CAP a rejection. There are many who in the end will have wanted a CAP over an outright rejection. Friends from last year didn’t get rejections until 2/1.
My S19 just came home and told me a classmate who has been admitted to MIT was REJECTED by UT. I am floored.
Priority applicant who received their decision tonight like everyone else, I was NOT offered CAP, but offered PACE. Honestly was bummed out at first, but did not realize what it was till now. Thoughts anyone?
Another was also rejected but admitted EA today to UVA out of state. It all seems so random.
@Mills6
I share your pain. This process is ridiculous.
Daughter was accepted to Nursing Guarantee Program tonight. Are there other types of Nursing admissions?
@aaastudent Pace is a great program. After a year you are a full UT student. They only guarantee transfer into liberal arts, but you can always try to get into the other colleges. If your preferred major is in liberal arts, it will be perfect.
I know this is no consolation to those that TRULY have UT as their #1/Dream School, but I’ve seen other colleges Defer/Wait List/Reject, Ivy/Tier 2 school stat applicants, that they “felt” were using their college as a “back up” “Safe School”. So if you look at your application/resume in that light, they may have just figured you out. If not, then get on the phone/email/letters (yes real, hand written letters) and stand up for yourself and stand out from that “back up school” crowd. Good luck.
If not, then, well, they figured out.
