University of Texas at Austin Class of 2024 Admissions / Preparation

@tongyi98 Do you mind telling us where you found the info re: the visiting days? Thank you!

Click on the link: https://bealonghorn.admissions.utexas.edu/portal/campus_visit
In the middle of the page, Register for Campus Visit session, you will find a link for Academic and Campus Resource Session Guide, once you click it. it will take you to a 11-page document, you can find a listing of sessions and dates for each school to register. The General admission offers the session for admitted schools runs from 9-11am, each school has its own information session and tour in the afternoon. I have to say the entire process is very confusing and frustrating. Good luck!

For natural science honors?? Mine still says in review… should I be worried?

@sophieee123 - My son’s status has the “.additional review…March 1” language. Fingers crossed!

I hope you won’t mind if I offer a clarification. The Prospective Student tours aren’t “admitted student” visiting days, though they’re good for admitted students too, but for all interested prospective freshman, even if they’re sophomores or juniors in high school. These tours are open for most of the school year, shortly after the start of a new semester.

One admission associate emailed me that their calendar has been updated. Now you can find the session on certain days, but it’s not offered every day: Prospective Freshman Admissions Session & Campus Tour (Admitted Students) | 9:00 - 11:00 AM | Admissions Welcome Center at the Perry-Castañeda Library (PCL)

They still offer separate sessions for high school students: Prospective Freshman Admissions Session & Campus Tour (Grades 9-11)
Here is email I got from the admission: Our website has been updated to offer admitted freshman tours. You can find that information at https://bealonghorn.admissions.utexas.edu/portal/campus_visit.

For those who are accepted into EHP, there may be good news coming your way, if not there already. My son received his EHP letter (snail mail) today and we were surprised to see that he was offered a pretty decent scholarship … we did not even know EHP offers scholarships.

My son just picked up his the in the mail today too!

Ah! Monday March 30th, and Friday April 10th for the Cockrell School of Engineering (only).

We attended both Cockrell and McCombs (offered only a few dates in Spring and Fall) during the Fall of my son’s Junior Year, when he was deciding between Engineering and Business. It is geared towards prospective students wanting to attend UT-Austin. It was very informative.

Yeah, I think we’re planning on going down on 3/30. We were at TAMU Friday and Saturday and I can’t imagine what UT will have to be like to get my daughter to pick it over TAMU. The Zachry Engineering Building was SO impressive.

Did UT for Engineering have a waitlist this year?

I thought that too…seems it IS just that impressive! We are headed back on 3/30 so I can see it and my son can get the formal engineering tour. He only did the general tour last time and then a friend he has that’s already there took him to see the Cockrell building. He was really impressed and it sealed the deal for his top choice.

@Colhopeful728 - UT traditionally doesn’t offer waitlists for any majors - no word that it changed for this year.

@Boogie818 @TexasMTDad I think you meant the Engineering Education and Research Center (EER). The old Cockrell building is still the same as I remembered ;-).

The EER is more impressive IMHO than the Zachery Engineering Building for sure. They were both recently built so both are very open, modern with ultra cool class rooms, labs and equipments that make engineering geeks like my son and I drooled.

Drop by the Gates-Dell Complex for computer science as well and you will be equally impressed. Have fun and enjoy …

I’m looking forward to it. I certainly don’t have a problem with her being a Longhorn vs. Aggie… but I am 100% supportive of whatever decision she makes and will try not to add any undue influence.

Rejected from Architecture. Bummer. Tough major.

Daughter (vocal performance major) auditioned on Jan. 18. Just received acceptance to Butler School of Music at UT on Tuesday via email. Scholarship info coming in the next few weeks (very common for all accepted music majors to receive scholarship). Daughter had to submit prescreen audition back in the fall.

“Stats”: Top 11% at competitive high school, 1360 SAT, amazing voice

Still waiting to do final numbers crunch, etc. before making a decision. Baylor scholarship offer will come in March. Daughter is leaning toward Oklahoma City University, but with a family of Longhorns on both sides and a room already at SRD, we will quietly be rooting for a Longhorn outcome.

Break a leg to all performance majors and best wishes to all you others!

I went through Muscial Theatre auditions with my son last year. If she is serious about vocal performance, I can’t imagine a better place to receive the training she needs than at OK City U.

Does anyone know if there is another page for admitted engineering folks?
I truly enjoy reading posts on here and chatting back and forth, but we dont have a very chatty group. I was curious is maybe there is another place I should go now that we have been admitted.
The TAMU page is blowing up all day/everyday…but we seem to have crickets over here :-/
