Hi, I am in international student enthusiast about applying as a freshman to University of Texas in Austin. But I really need to know if they are need blind, and if they provide need-based aid to International students??? Also as an international students am I eligible for scholarships? I need atleast 60-70% waiver through aid or scholarships in order to attend. Any help is appreciated!

“Financial aid and scholarship opportunities for international undergraduate students at UT Austin are quite limited. For the most part, international students are not eligible for federal, state, or university aid or scholarships.”

Straight from their web site. I would email admissions and ask if UTAustin is need blind for internationals. i know they are need blind in general, as large universities tend to be.

Frankly, The chances of getting the type of money you need are very small. You would need some very strong attributes that the school is specifically seeking to get the cost down to that level. Even Texans would in that situation. This is a highly selective school, and they do not have to pay for what they want in students for the most part. THey do not even meet full need for all of their own state kids, and really, anyone who gets into this school is pretty impressive, IMO, and would likely have a good chance at merit awards at other places.

If you are looking for options that cost about $10K a year for you, you need to be looking at those schools where you would be in the very top group of students. Getting that kind of money is difficult for ANYONE, and being international makes it harder because even the schools that guarantee to meet full need often do not extend that policy to foreign students, and many that do, are not need blind n admissions for them so that the cuts happen right there if you need that kind of money.

If you really want to study in the US and want the money, I suggest adding school that are not as well known to your list and that would want to pay for your numbers–you should be among the top students, the very top in the applicant pool. Not saying, you should not also give UTAustin and other schools a try too, but the chances of getting accepted and the money you need are very small.

Do not expect any aid (merit or need-based) to UTexas. Their aid is for instate students.

The state of Texas has no intention of funding OOS and int’ls with their tax dollars. You don’t pay taxes there.

You can apply just to see for yourself, but it will likely be a wasted app. The OOS cost is about $45k per year…you certainly would not get anything anywhere close to 60% off…NO WAY. you wouldn’t even get 10%.

If you want aid, you need to apply to privates that give aid to int’ls…or to the publics that give merit to int’ls

What are your stats? to get aid either way, your stats need to be high/strong. What is your M+CR SAT? your GPA?

(Math:770, Writing: 590, CR-580

Your W score is largely irrelevant.

Your M+CR is a 1350…not high enough for large merit at most schools that you have heard of. This is equivalent to about an ACT 30/31.

You need huge merit if you need 60/70% off of COA.

how much can your family actually pay each year for COA and int’l travel?

Ma’am my parents can pay upto $20000 (max). I have to admit, that my college choosing has been a bit poor lately. But I have fixed it. Speaking of my merit , I studied under UK CIE curriculam. In my Olevels I had 4 A* and 5A and in my A levels I had 3A and 1B. I will be sitting for the SAT this Oct, And I am very much focused on building up my CR and Writing score.
