Major: I'm thinking Government, but I'm open to other liberal arts. Although I am premed/prepharm, I do not want to major in the natural sciences. As my father (who is an ER doctor) puts it, enjoy college, major in something fun, you'll get plenty of BioChem and A&P in med school.
GPA: 4.0
EC's: I don't have too many but here is what I have so far, 500 hours of shadowing a pediatric pathologist, 200 hours of shadowing an ER doctor, 150 hours of community service at the Habitat for Humanity. Not sure if I should include this because it was in high school, but I was the 1st place winner in my state's Rotary Four Way Speech Contest.
Courses: Im just going to name the courses that I have completed or going to that UT puts extra emphasis on; Bio1 & 2, Chem 1& 2, Physics 1, Ochem 1, Calculus 1, and Ochem 2 in the spring. Physics 2 is up in the air for me as I am leaning toward pharmacy school now after enjoying chemistry so much.

Now here is my main concern since I am taking a pretty intense workload this semester, I will not get my application in until early December and the deadline is in March. How will this effect my chances of being accepted, and if you have been a transfer student at UT please let me know your experience. Thank you CC community!

Looks good to me can’t see why you wouldn’t get in. Not familiar with UT’s transfer process, but 3-4 months shouldn’t hurt you when they review your application.

With a 4.0 GPA, you should be a solid admit regardless of your ECs or curriculum. UT is very GPA-oriented in their consideration of transfer apps. Even if the current semester leaves you at 3.7+ you’re in a good place.

Just make sure you have completed 30 hours or more at your current school, since they give preference to applicants who have done so.

Thanks for the feedback! I will have completed 60 hours by the time I will transfer. I was just worried about submitting my application in december, that it would kill my chances of being admitted.

It’s helpful if instead of merely bumping you provide some indication of what you are still looking for. Just more opinions to ratify what has already been said, thoughts on your choice of major, someone who can completely disagree with the previous posters and confirm your most secret inner fears…what is it?

Well I stated at the end about the date in which I will be applying being my main concern. I want to see if anyone has had experience applying in December. I have no doubt I will be admitted, I’m wanting to know if the time in which I apply could keep me from being admitted. It’s really important that I get admitted for the fall of 2015 since I can no longer afford to attend Baylor.
