it doesn’t matter when you sign a dorm housing contract for housing priority, just when you paid the $50, correct?
When will the Financial Aid/Scholarship offer be available? My son already received it from A&M; waiting to see what UT offers.
Anyone?
Did you all receive acceptance letters in mail?
Not yet. Just the e-mail. Hopefully, we’ll receive in the next couple of weeks. They are at least a week behind because of the ice storm.
Thank you!
i received my acceptance package in the mail about 3-ish weeks after i received my decision
Does anyone know what exactly will be on the actual housing application sheet? I already paid the $50 back in october to get my spot “in line”, but I’m wondering what they’ll ask on the actual housing sheet that’ll come soon. Like what types of questions will be on it, and will they ask for our first, second, and third choice dorms, or will they only ask for out first choice, and how the random roommate selection works(would they ask for our preferences on what kind of person we are looking for, or is it actually just really random). Any insight would be totally helpful!!
I have no idea what it looks like, but from what I’ve heard you do put a list of dorm preference. I think for roommates you’re able to put their name if you’ve already decided on one (or their UT ID I think). No idea how random works but I want to think UT has a roommate preference sheet kind of thing and they’ll pick your roommate based on that? Not entirely sure
Hey y’all, I didn’t do the housing form back when I applied and have been trying for the past two weeks but to no avail, as the credit card webpage never loads. Is anyone else having this problem? I assumed last week with the storm the website was temporarily offline, but I’m surprised I still can’t access it.
Thanks!
Hello, I was accepted to UT Austin and submitted my housing application and $50 back in October, but haven’t committed yet to going, so I won’t have access to the housing agreements when they come out March 1. Does anyone know if I’ll lose my spot in line because of this? Or if I end up committing later will I still have access based on the housing deposit as opposed to when I got the agreement? Thanks!
This is also a question I have but I think you still have priority as you get your dorm assignment until later. So someone who does sign their contract tomorrow may still be in the middle of the line since they put down their 50 dollars later? There was an email I got that from housing that made it seem like this was the case
This is what the email said “If you are not ready to accept your admission to UT Austin at this time, that is okay. We will hold your contract offer for you until you have made your UT decision. Room selection for all freshmen will begin in June, so you will not miss out on picking your room as you make your university decision.”
@mbt2025, We got an identical, eMail from the housing office. Moreover, the email acknowledges and I quote
"Congratulations on your admission to UT Austin. As an incoming freshman, we prioritize you in the on-campus housing process because we know the value living on campus has for first-year students. "
End quote.
So, we are hopeful. We didn’t put in the deposit until Feb 25th or so, since we didn’t know these intricacies. To be fair, we are open to any on campus housing though we have preferences.
Just being appreciative that while folks in Texas are having what seems like a once in a lifetime natural disaster made worse by previous human (in?)actions, in the middle of a once in a century pandemic, they are still working to get all this sorted out.
Gratitude!
I didn’t even know about the priority until I went for a tour at UT early November so I am eternally grateful for the student tour guide who told me! I want to stay in San Jacinto too which I think goes fairly quickly
So my son has signed his housing contract and filled out the roommate finder. When he looks at the roommate matches, it has options along the side. Add to Group, Send Message, View Profile. Does anyone know what it means to add a person to a group? Is this like a “maybe” pile to consider more later while scrolling through the big list? Will anyone see who is added to this group other than my son?
My son got accepted to CS, OOS, but didn’t get into the honor programs. We submitted the housing application last year but we haven’t signed the housing contract yet. He is not on facebook or any social network. He is looking for a roommate now, if anybody in CS looking for a roommate, please contact me. Thank you!
Does anyone know how the orientation schedule works? My son is looking at taking a 10 week summer class. The only hitch is he would be in class on Mondays from 5-9 (online) which might interfere with the orientation schedule. I see the orientations are Monday through Wednesday. Does anyone know what the first night’s orientation schedule looks like?
If orientation is in person, there will definitely be conflicts during that time frame. There is a family dinner time and then the parents leave. There are meetings and social activities in the evening. I have never gone through the orientation in the online format so that may be very different.
You will not lose your spot in line so long as you accept your housing contract during the time frame they specify for you. The “spot” really only becomes relevant when it is time to select the dorm and room. You’ll get an earlier appointment for that if you have an early spot in line from last fall.
