My daughter applied to UIUC’s Business Program and was invited to further apply to the Business Honors Program. Does that mean she has been accepted to the regular Business Program already?
Interesting. I can only go from my children’s experience from previous years.
In my opinion, which is not based on any insider knowledge, she has a significant chance of being accepted to the college. If I am recalling correctly, both of my children received an invitation to a College of Business event in downtown Chicago prior to receiving their respective acceptances. It was a sales pitch type of event to increase excitement about the program. It was nicely run and provided an opportunity to meet current students, graduates and some deans.
As for applying to Business Honors, I’m sorry, but I don’t remember the time frame. The interviews happened after the downtown event and being accepted, but I’m not sure when.

It looks like a great program and as the waiting game to hear back from colleges has started we were just wondering if we should assume that she has been accepted for starters to the regular Business program. Her interest definitely lies in the Honors program but we will wait to see how that goes. I’m glad to hear it has exceeded your expectations

Fingers crossed for tomorrow…wasn’t sure which date was accurate for interview notification 11/29 from the original email or 11/23 from the completed submission that was sent.
I called uiuc business honors program office a week ago. They said that the interview notification will come out in 11/29, not 11/23. Still havent gotten interview email yet:’(

Some additional info for future applicants. Invitations to apply to the Business Honors program goes to approx top 10% of overall school of business EA applicants for the year (380/3800). From the returned applications (300 or so), they offered interviews to about half of students (150). From the interviews they offered the Business Honors program to approx 60-65 students. This usually yields about 35-40 actual acceptances to UIUC and the honors program. This year students found out about acceptance into the Business Honors program with scholarship when they received their overall EA acceptance into UIUC decisions on the portal this year. The Business Honors program sounds fantastic with great mentorship, job shadowing opportunities, and a travel abroad package (just some of the perks). I believe the only opportunity to get into the program is as an in-coming freshmen, so apply early. Good luck to future applicants!
Is the business honors program only for EA applicants?
I’m not 100% sure, but it sounded like the initial invites and most of the slots go to EA applicants. I don’t know if there are any spots for RD applicants, perhaps you can call/email UIUC if you are interested. But to be on the safe side, I would apply EA. I don’t think (I could be wrong), it will conflict with ED or REA to other schools.
