I confirmed with the FA office that awards will be posted by next week. It may be early, but they are confident to post by 3/8.
My son was fortunate enough to have earned a AROTC 3 yr scholarship. He needs to let AROTC know the school choice by March 8th. So, we are very anxious to see awards and know if he can afford next year or take another school’s offer.
Merit awards out - my S got a President Award of $15k a year - FA due out by mid-March. @momof2boys65
we filled out FAFSA back in October as at least half the schools we applied to required that and/or CSS so for us its par for the course -
Out of state here (MA). We did not fill out a FAFSA. After reading the updates on this thread a few minutes ago, just went to the portal and looked up the updates, and the merit letter was there.
I was awarded the 18k/year Presidential Scholarship; how likely is it that I’ll be admitted to the Honors College?
GPAW: 96.20/100
SAT/ACT: Did not take/31
More stats on my most recent thread. Thank you!
@jjay No. Honors College acceptances come out later. My daughter got a snail-mail letter at least a month after her acceptance.
@macd123 My daughter was accepted to Honors College w/ 3.98 uw and 32 ACT. But there isn’t really a cutoff. They look at high-achieving, motivated students across all majors. I think the idea is to fill Honors College w/ a variety of interests/majors.
No merit aid for my son. Admissions counselor said that had their strongest applicant pool ever (not sure if he meant by numbers or other factors). It’s too bad for us, but happy for everyone who did get a break on tuition.
My daughter was accepted as a Spring admit to the Rubenstein school. UVM has been her top choice but that stung a bit. She got admitted for fall starts at all 5 other schools she applied to, a couple that were more selective than UVM, and has gotten some very large merit awards elsewhere. UVM just felt like the perfect fit for her. We are going to all the admitted student days to help her re-evaluate. I doubt she will get a scholarship as a spring admit so it will definitely be the most expensive. But a semester “off” after a full IB program may be a welcome breather. And she could take her basics(bio/Chem/pre-calc) at a community college for a fraction of the cost of a semester at UVM. Will be interested to see what she decides.
Hi, my son is also a spring admit but hasn’t heard back from the other Colleges he has applied to. Why do you assume no scholarships for spring admittances ? Are ithey considered second tier? He’s alright with the start date as he has plans for 6 months in Africa prior.
Iassumed that the spring admits were not the strongest candidates so would not get merit awards. The admission counselor confirmed today she did not get merit award, but more due to her SAT scores.than bcause she is spring admit. She attended a private school where there were no standardized tests, then in 11th grade transferrred to public school in full IB program. She didn’t believe in standardized tests as the best indicator to who she was as a student, didn’t study, didn’t retake and did horribly. Well, it’s definitely keeping her from scholarships but she was accepted to all of her schools in spite of.
@Longhaul My daughter’s financial aid package has been posted through the UVM “View Financial Aid…” link on the admissions status page. You might want to check your son’s out and see if it’s there. Our URI package was also posted today, but others waiting on URI did not receive theirs. Hope yours is there!
